What do you spend on that is just for you?

This is regardless of income I'm curious what you buy that is just for you? It could be something you need / want or something completely indulgent!

I don't set any sort of monthly budget as such and some months I hardly buy a thing but when I do spend I will spend on things like nice stationary, good skincare, perhaps a magazine, a quality candle, tea and cake out, books and sometimes tech, ipad, smart watch etc. I have netflix and an amazon music subscription but I let dp use them.

Plants for the garden and coffee flavoured ice cream.

smokeymoon · 29/09/2020 14:19

@Stompythedinosaur Ah coffee flavored ice cream that would be a very personal indulgence!

Ginger beer. Nobody else likes it, which makes me buy it all the more.

Oh gosh, now I think of it, lots of stuff. In my defence, I do work hard and I also like to treat others, when I can.

I spend on:

Books and magazines
Clothes ( although much less so recently)
Regular beautician treatments
Gym membership
Garden stuff now and again
CPD for work ( not always necessary but interesting)
Riesling and English wine
Lovely cheese, lovely chocolate
When pandemics permit, days and meals out with friends. I love festivals, galleries, book talks and concerts.

I have a couple of dear friends who aren't badly off but who sometimes seem to make a virtue out of their self-denial ( one pair of jeans, maternity cut, youngest is 5 etc.). As the above list demonstrates, it's one thing we can't agree on.

youdidask · 29/09/2020 14:29

Cinema membership- obviously that's pointless at the moment but I love going out to watch a film by myself

Odile13 · 29/09/2020 14:32

Books! I also have Kindle Unlimited and Audible subscriptions and definitely get my money’s worth out of them.

prettygreenteacup · 29/09/2020 14:35

Skincare and books :) Also clothes sometimes!

BigFart · 29/09/2020 14:40

Wine.

And gluten free bread.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 29/09/2020 14:43

Loads. I get my nails done every 3 weeks, eyebrows once a month and hair every 2 months. I go out for cocktails fairly regularly. Takeaway coffee a couple of times a week. Spotify premium. Netflix. Concerts and city breaks when I can. I'm not massively into clothes so I don't buy them that often.

I can afford it and DS gets plenty too.

JeNeComprendsPas · 29/09/2020 14:48

Tatler subscription - frivolous escapism - particularly enjoyable with a glass of Aldi champagne (£10 a bottle!)

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 29/09/2020 14:52

Personal training, fitness classes, books.

ceeveebee · 29/09/2020 15:09

Fitness classes, tennis lessons, manicures and hair!

Margo34 · 29/09/2020 15:12

Pilates.
Trevor Extra Strong Mints (a sneaky treat I add to the click and collect weekly shop, then ruffle through the bags in the car park to find so I can consume on the way home. My treat for doing the online shopping and collecting too)!

Margo34 · 29/09/2020 15:13

^Trebor, not Trevor 🤭

I love buying really good quality stuff second hand on Ebay. Think cashmere, expensive brown leather handbags, lovely snuggly winter jumpers.

I am a support worker so don't earn a lot, but I'm usually top to toe in lovely second hand stuff which lasts and is beautiful.

Sometimes, I just browse and save stuff and then pick the best. I must have four Phase Eight dresses now, all worn with red/black DMs I found on there too.

I operate a one in/one out policy on say jumpers or dresses, so over time my wardrobe gets better.

Next project, a structured wool winter coat. Missed out on an AMAZING one by Karen Millen not so long ago.

Its £25 here and there and makes me happy.

Shoxfordian · 29/09/2020 16:36

And even for my family, we like having a takeaway each week and a maccies breakfast every now and then

bakereld · 29/09/2020 17:02

Clothes, nice tea or coffee from Whittards or Fortnum & Mason, Spotify Premium, nice mugs from Emma Bridgewater, cozy slippers and & pyjamas.

LadyJaye · 29/09/2020 17:08

I have natural ringlets and spend a FORTUNE on specialist 'Curly Girl Method' hair products.

In my defence, a litre bottle lasts forever and nobody else touches them, so it works out reasonably economic in the grand scheme of things.

Flirtydove · 29/09/2020 17:15

Dark chocolate
Gym membership
Beauty treatments
