Extended October half term (and lockdown)

Is this happening? My NHS friend says that the government has informed them that it is.

Is this just rumour and speculation? What do Headteachers know that we don’t?

I don't think heads know this. I am aware of it as rumour so I think it's a possibility but have had nothing confirmed.

If they wanted to keep it under wraps they wouldnt tell the whole of the NHS (unless your friend is some sort of director of a whole trust?) And all headteachers. That's thousands of people and obviously it would get out.

Headteachers only know what the government have already announced. Those who work in schools know exactly the same as those who don't work in schools.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it happens. Government decisions seem to be leaked a lot before they actually happen.

This is what I think. It’s difficult when people present rumour and speculation as fact...

I work for the NHS and would expect to have heard if there were any official communications. All we have are the rumours everyone else has read in the press and on SM.

If I was still managing a department of staff providing a time critical on-site service I would be assuming my staff with under 14s would have significant childcare problems in late October and making contingency plans now.

Whose half term? Not every area has half term on the same week

Heatherjayne1972 Most October half terms take place during one of two weeks.
So a 2/3 week shut down would cover them all.

Schools, like other people, are aware of it as a rumour but they haven’t been told anything as a fact.
