Normal chest infections

My son has a chest infection. The GP listened to it and has given him antibiotics but he cant sit down as he says its so much easier to breathe standing up. Ive not had a chest infection for a long time - is this fairly normal?

Hi OP,
I suffer recurring chest infections for a variety of reasons and invariably end up on steroids after 2 x different antibiotics so can relate to this.

I personally find it incredibly uncomfortable and hard to breathe whilst laying down & often can only get comfy if at an angle using cushions or pillows.

Hoping your son starts to improve within 2 days assuming the antibiotics start to kick in effectively.

I have recurrent chest infections. I've not heard of difficulty sitting down breathing but definitely laying down is impossible. I have cushions to prop myself up as a tiny lean is impossible to manage.
