What little things do you spend a lot of money on?

For me it is walking socks. We do a lot of walking/hiking and bad socks can cause all sorts of problems. So I spend silly money on decent socks - £25 a pair. But I think they are worth every penny. I've spent years testing out different brands and finally found my dream sock.

@sugarbum

fabric. I'm a fabric addict.
Me too. I don't consider it a little thing though, it's supplies for my self expression through quilting. The fact that I already have enough fabric to express myself for considerably longer than I expect to live is neither here nor there and doesn't stop me from buying more fabric. Grin

It is said that sewing and fabric collecting are two entirely separate hobbies! Grin

My sin is Lego. I find it very relaxing to do some building in the evening after work. But my god the stuff is expensive.

TheSunIsStillShining · 30/09/2020 14:49
@TheSunIsStillShining would you mind sharing where you get them from? I’d love to order some for Christmas!
Hungary. My mum goes buys them and then send them as a parcel.

Here is a site where you can order from, although I haven't tried it: www.super-shop.hu/en/spd/DEM002/Chocolate-filled-with-Sour-CherryLiquor-1kg-cca-65

My bloody hair. I have awful thin hair so I over compensate by getting it coloured a lot and having extensions. I envy people with normal hair.

Large Denby mugs. They give me immense pleasure every time I use them.

My dog
Gin
Skincare: I’m currently into Bamford and have quite a good range of products now. With lockdown I’ve not been wearing much make up, most days none at all, so I’ve been treating my skin. It’s really made a difference

Thank you 😊

Bertinet Bakery Sourdough.

Our cats are small things but are the second biggest line on our monthly budget.

Oh yes, Bertinet olive sourdough is delish! But the ones they sell at Waitrose are pre-sliced. I prefer to slice my own as I like wafer thin slices. And then toasted till they are very crisp, with lashings of butter
GingerBeverage · 30/09/2020 18:09

Little things...can't think of much. Local bread £4.50 a loaf. Coffee at the park.
RTFT I realise we're quite frugal but I never feel we are.

VictoriaBun · 30/09/2020 19:47

Good quality olive oil - we love the ones from The Gift of Oil. They also do lovely balsamic as well.
My dh will only drink Ringtons Gold tea. We are lucky we are in an area that they deliver to. Love to see him arrive with the big wicker basket.
We have deliveries from The Morpeth Cheese shop for lots of lovely cheese .

peaceanddove · 30/09/2020 19:50

Freya bras.
Grey Goose vodka & Fever Tree Tonic.
Ren cleanser.
Twinings English Breakfast.
Aveda highlights.
Method cleaning products.
I didn't used to be into handbags, but DH recently bought me a Mulberry Darley, and now I can never, ever go back to cheap bags have already picked out a beautiful Celine bag I want for Xmas

Passmethechocolatecake · 30/09/2020 20:00

Tattoos... I have a lot also fillers.
Make up and skin care. At this point I’d almost say I collect it. I don’t buy it just to use it, I like looking at it on my dressing table as well.
Jewellery, particularly rings.

janj2301 · 30/09/2020 20:19

Cat only eats Sheba tray, turkey in white sauce. Not extortionate but quite a chunk of our budget.

Tangledyarn · 30/09/2020 20:31

Really nice fabric for sewing with
Coffee
Nice tonic to go with gin

KillingEve20 · 30/09/2020 21:05

Charging cables - buy cheap buy twice with them.
Candles, there is definitely a difference between the cheap and more expensive ones!
Bras, big bosoms require decent bras.
Work shoes, I need comfort!
There are plenty of others.

mamaduckbone · 30/09/2020 21:40

Notebooks.
I have to have a hardback, squared Leuchtturm book for school (teacher) so even though I get bought loads of cheap ones as end of year gifts I don't use them.

foxyroxyyy · 01/10/2020 00:15

Vanilla extract, balsamic vinegar, sausages.... off the top of my head.

Love this thread.

SandyGin · 01/10/2020 02:58

Just at the moment, masks, gloves, hand sanitizing gel, anti-bac wipes, anti-bac liquid hand soap and anti-bac cleaner. Can't think why. It is eating into the gin and chocolate budget.

MrsAvocet · 01/10/2020 03:12

Hand sanitiser here too! Both my boys have to take their own to school and we are getting through it at a vast rate of knots.
Otherwise I can't think of anything really, except I must have Napolina tinned tomatoes- can't be doing with supermarket own brands.
I do like good quality cycling clothes which are certainly expensive but I don't think they really qualify as small things!

frogface69 · 01/10/2020 03:21

Cat treats. She had a tough life before living with me and I spoil her. She is at least 18 years old and I reckon she can have what she wants.
Doc Martens for me. I have 26 pairs.

TheDuchessofDukeStreet · 01/10/2020 03:36

Tea. Ringtons for choice, although I top up with M&S extra strong.
Sausages from the local farm shop.
President spreadable butter.
Tuna steak in spring water for the cat. She won’t eat inferior tuna. She’s two and a half but had a bad start in life so we want her to have a nice time now with us.
