Why is everyone awake in this house??!

DD (8) came in a couple of hours ago complaining see couldn't sleep. We cuddled for a bit and then I sent her back to her own room to please try. Lay awake myself for a while - every time I almost dropped off I'd hear her stirring again and wake up. Finally got up just now to use the loo - only to DS (6) get up and put an audio book on.

They're going to be absolutely wrecked in the morning, as am I - and I have a very long, difficult day ahead.

Actually, not quite everyone is awake. DH has snored his way through the whole thing, oblivious. Angry

Woken up by sharp constant pain behind my rib cage and can't get back to sleep or ease the pain.

ComeOnEileen11 · 28/09/2020 03:29

Oh no OP, that sounds hard, especially knowing you have a tough day ahead Flowers how love of you to have been cuddling your daughter when she needed you Flowers
It's really annoying when men sleep through all the goings on - I sympathise. My DC have been up unwell with colds multiple times every night for the past week and DH has only woken when I've specifically woken him. I understand the ragey feeling.
I'm up having fed the smallest (4 months) and hoping she settles back nicely...

Frownette · 28/09/2020 03:32

Actually I've just got back to my room after watching week in parliament and then other news, and cooking bread and butter pudding.

Ouch @Fooshufflewickbannanapants have you go any painkillers?

Trust dh to sleep through @GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal

I'm awake with abdominal pain. Haven't slept properly in 3 nights and felt really down yesterday. I really need sleep.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 28/09/2020 03:47

Sympathies for all the people awake and in pain. Thanks

We're a family of bad sleepers, tbf to DH he's handled plenty of sleepless nights without me. It's just frustrating when the DC don't sleep. At their age there's very little I can do to help.

Ds has a horrible cold, he's asleep now but I can't , I don't know if going to work and leaving him at home is a good idea. He's old enough, that's not the issue.

Lifeisabeach09 · 28/09/2020 04:00

I work nights so on my 'days' off I have an erratic sleep pattern. Although I'm 'jetlagged,' I like this hour! Quiet and peaceful.

DontBeShelfish · 28/09/2020 04:01

Yep, DD woke up a few hours ago. She occasionally does this - it takes absolutely ages to then get her settled. DP is asleep on the sofa listening to the news, so he's obviously been awake too. And now I'm awake. Ugh.

Howcanwehelp · 28/09/2020 04:14

I woke up at about 3 all alone, dh said he might sleep downstairs as we had such a bad night the night before, son full of cold and awake every 2 hours calling out. It was very quiet so I went investigating, other son in bed but son full of cold missing. I'm assuming he's downstairs with husband so husband can keep an eye on him (god knows where they are sleeping). I wish dh had let me know someone as I have anxiety and wonder if I slept through something important. I don't want to go into lounge to check in case I wake them up!

PAToTheStars · 28/09/2020 04:21

I think I have sleep apnea. I haven't had a decent night's sleep in over 2 years. Plus I'm worried about my father who is in hospital. I am just so sad.

Tomatoesneedtoripen · 28/09/2020 04:22

i woke up with indigestion, i blame that cake

Dollywilde · 28/09/2020 04:25

Night feed for 6 week old DD, she skipped her midnight feed so I haven’t fed since 9pm
and my boobs feel like rocks Blush

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 28/09/2020 04:28

I'm very sorry to hear that, @PAToTheStars. I hope it's nothing too serious? Hand hold for you.

Howcanwehelp, try not to worry. I'm sure your DH just wanted to let you sleep.

Speaking of sleep, going to have another go at getting some.

PhilCornwall1 · 28/09/2020 04:37

The joys of Rheumatoid Arthritis for me. Have been awake since about 2am with the pain and then got up at 3:45am as it was getting too much, so needed painkillers and coffee.

Now on the settee until I make coffee for Mrs PC at 6am. Has been like this for years for me now. I do love the quiet time though.

Luddite26 · 28/09/2020 05:04

It's like the book Peace At Last!
Only they weren't awake with pain.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 28/09/2020 06:53

Morning all!
Ds full of cold had a night downstairs with dh, dh now shattered so promised him when other child had gone to school hecan go to bed. I'm working from home wrapped in sleeping bag and hoodie. Other ds is full of beans. It's going to be a long day!

DontBeShelfish · 28/09/2020 08:37

Home today with DD, I dozed off at 6am so now feel slightly worse for wear. Got work commitments later and at some point this morning have to go out and pick up ingredients for a visiting vegetarian. Thank God for face masks, at least no-one will be able to see my face. 😂
