I think I just told our neighbour to shut up in his own house

Having a shower, over the water I heard what I assumed was DH singing/humming tunelessly but loudly in the kitchen (other side of the wall). Jokingly called out "Oh my God shut up would you, that's awful!" and carried on washing my hair. Tuneless singing continued. Shouted again "Please, STOP, I'm begging you!" All quiet.

Got out, dressed, went upstairs to DH sorting out his wardrobe. Asked "what was that you were even trying to sing, it didn't sound human!" met with a confused face. "In the kitchen...just now" Nope. Not him. He's been upstairs the whole time. DD confirms she hasn't heard him on the stairs.

It has to be the guy next door singing in his own bathroom. DH is doing the "oh maybe he didn't hear you over his shower" line but he bloody did didn't he, he stopped! He must think I'm a right bossy cow, can't even enjoy an out of tune singalong in his own shower! Blush Blush

I always laugh at posters with these kind of threads and now I know exactly how embarrassing it is! Not even like he's a stranger, we see him in the garden quite often...hopefully not so much now it's colder and I can avoid him for a bit Grin

That's hilarious
I can hear my neighbour singing in his bedroom in the evening when I get into bed. He'd be mortified if he knew. Thank goodness it's not too bad.

S111n20 · 27/09/2020 18:01

Haha that’s so funny 😂

mineofuselessinformation · 27/09/2020 18:07

Next time just give up and join in.

SecretNutellaFix · 27/09/2020 19:23

Singing's not so bad. Some walls are just like bloody paper.

We can hear our neighbours taking a piss at 2am, due to the way the houses are constructed. And yes, I've been sorely tempted to yell go see a doctor due to the stop start nature of it.

BearSoFair · 27/09/2020 21:04

We can't hear his toilet habits thank god!! Just his dreadful singing that carries through the wall Grin

Just snorted laughing Grin
I'm that awkward that I'd have to go and apologise!

MsChatterbox · 27/09/2020 21:33

You'll just have to compliment next time Grin

LadyOfTheCanyon · 27/09/2020 21:37

Clearly you have to style it out, in that as far as you are concerned you told your DH to pipe down and he did. All's good in your household. Just smile and pretend nothing happened.

dudsville · 27/09/2020 21:45

Can you do some more shouting asking your dh to stop singing so that the neighbour thinks you meant your dh!?!?
