Leek for market town vibes and Staffs oatcakes and wild walk at the Roaches

Dovedale is heaven but mobbed to the gills

Other bits of manifold valley are less so

Comefromaway · 28/09/2020 21:04

Ashbourne
Matlock Bath
Hartington

Treak cliff cavern is the best IMO. All tours are without a guide at the moment though.
Monsal Head
Kinder
Stanage Edge

CatBatCat · 28/09/2020 21:07

Cromford Mills
Thors Cave

@BikeRunSki love Scarthin books. It’s a great shop. Hartington is nice. The Tissington trail is one of my favourite things to do. There is a place called Three Shire Heads near Buxton that was recommended to me for wild swimming/paddling. It’s probably a bit cold for that now!

Anchor Church in South Derbyshire. Wonderful ancient caves right on the river which is also a great wild swimming spot.

Pretty sure tutbury castle isnt that far from there if you fancy that. Ide check it's open though.

I've been to Bakewell twice, which is once, if not twice more than necessary.

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 28/09/2020 22:31

Or, Chatsworth (for posh)

Craftycorvid · 28/09/2020 22:33

Another vote for Scarthin Books (who doesn’t love a bookcase that’s actually a secret door? To the cafe).

And Matlock Bath is great fun!

@wowfudge

Crikey - if you think Matlock Bath is tacky, don't ever go to Blackpool!
I have no intention of ever going to Blackpool!

Hardwick Hall, and just over the border into Nottinghamshire is Sherwood Forest.
