Fucking Yodel delivery

So I have a Yodel delivery due today. At 10am it showed as being given to a driver. 10.30, they change the status to "attempted delivery, but property was inaccessible". It is three steps from pavement to my front door. I was in the house about 1m from front door. I called and text the driver, no response. From the depot to my house is over a 50 min drive.

Went on their online help, the person said that they had attempted delivery so they won't try again until Monday. I explained that isn't at all even possibly true. Whilst I was typing the message to them, Royal Mail managed to post letters through my letterbox. I told them this.

I have DMed Yodel on Twitter and asked the same question. Tracking still shows as expected today but no number of stops are showing.

What is the likelihood I will get it today or even at all? Why are they a bunch of lying twatbadgers?

Impossible for us to say, but I've had a parcel before that said it had been returned to sender - but it was delivered the following day. The person that scanned it selected the wrong option, apparantly.

DizzyPigeon · 26/09/2020 18:41

Has it arrived?

GrumpyMug2 · 26/09/2020 19:15

Not it has not. Currently working out how to make a Yodel voodoo doll. I don't blame the delivery driver. I know they get paid peanuts but Yodel is so shit and they shouldn't be allowed to get away with it

Sadly not the first occasion I have heard such stories about Yodel.

I'd require all online orders to state who the delivery company will be before they are placed. Some companies would probably drop Yodel fairly quickly if this happened.

SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness · 26/09/2020 19:42

Yodel lost part of my Argos delivery this week. They still can't find it. I probably wouldn't have ordered from them if I'd seen it would be delivered by Yodel, TBH.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 26/09/2020 20:20

The very same thing happened to me yesterday but with DHL
I'd been all day yet was apparently not!!
They don't work weekends so my sons Apple Watch is currently sat in their depot in Swindon... I'm not holding out much hope for Monday
You have my sympathy OP

We had the exact same thing from Yodel - unable to access property. Strange as our drive is open to all other delivery driversHmm. We're at home all the time. After 3 attempts we gave up and ordered the item from another supplier. Funnily enough DHL seemed able to "access our property".

GrumpyMug2 · 26/09/2020 20:48

I mean why lie? Just say it has been delayed. That's annoying but ok. This is just proper lying to customers

In our case, I honestly believe they couldn't be arsed to drive a mile outside the village and instead concentrated on housing developments, of which there are several, where they can do more deliveries in the time allotted.

Had this today with DPD. They said no one was in which they Were as it went to my husbands work and was open. The photo they sent was from something across the road. From that distance and the angle he must have been standing in my husbands work car park to take it. My husbands work has big light up signs on it in massive letters. You cannot miss the building. No way he would have missed it.
Not coming again till Monday. Have very unhappy kids.

Emailed them and they said they would tell the driver to ask if he had problems next time. Confused

I was left shaking my head. Wouldn’t have thought possible the incompetence of it all
Baffling.

I had this with Hermes. For 3 days running they claimed they had attempted delivery but no-one was in which was a total lie as I was at home each time and they didn't knock once.

Shosha1 · 27/09/2020 07:35

Best one I ever had from Yodel was a them saying no one in. I was. So was the Army Guardroom that the driver round have had to stop at and sign in at.
Funny enough when I checked with the guardroom to see if he had signed in at the time of the delivery they had no record of him being there.

We often got this, they seemed to wait till they had enough deliveries to bother to sign in.

I have just had this with Hermes twice! First time they 'attempted' delivery 3 days running with no success, except they didn't, because we have a Ring doorbell and they were nowhere to be seen all day on the footage. When I spoke to Jigsaw who were sending the parcel they checked the tracking and the driver had been knocking on a variety of doors within a mile of my house, none of which were actually mine! Ended up with a refund and voucher in apology.

Next ASOS sent my new winter pyjamas this week, bloody Hermes again. This time they texted me at 8am on Tuesday to say my delivery couldn't be made today and they'd be in touch. Radio silence until I checked on Thursday, when the tracking had been updated to say it had been delivered at 8am on Tuesday! Managed to get through to ASOS who checked tracking and could see it had been delivered 5 miles away. Again, refund and had to reorder. Wonder where they'll deliver this one to!?

I hate Yodel! They alleged they had delivered 2 Apple iPhones to me, which they hadn't as i live very rurally at the end of a private road which is rarely used and you can hear any traffic, it was also a hot sunny day, I had the front door open and my dog was outside, they came nowhere near and it took me six weeks and a lot of hassle to get two more phones delivered. Their (shit) customer service said their driver had described the house and it was nothing like where I lived! I gave up on any sort of apology / compensation after 2 months as my blood pressure couldn't take it!

My 2-year-old was asking for the "book" just before Xmas. I had no idea what they wanted, as any book I brought over was met with a shake of the head and a frustrated "BOOK". In the end I worked out that they were asking to open the advent calendar - obviously a 2 year old's limited vocabulary doesn't stretch to "advent calendar" so they use whatever is closest. The same problem lies with deliveries. The driver has only so many options on his pad to press (i.e. "couldn't access") and often there isn't anything to signify exactly what the problem was, but they have to press something and can't enter manually.
