Neighbour Stolen Parcel?

A parcel was attempted to be delivered yesterday and the postman left it with our neighbour from hell. He left a card saying left with X.

So my partner went round and she denied all knowledge of the parcel. I know exactly what the parcel was as I have only ordered from 1 company this week. Do I contact the company? Do I go to Royal Mail? It is so frustrating that they left it with the one neighbour who has no common decency at all.

I can try and catch them but its a different postie every day.

There should be a number on the card - the postie's ID - ring the local post office depot.. Ask for confirmation of which colour /style /number door..
Our postman hasn't changed and we have been here over 5 years. He got me and ndn post the wrong way round last week. Our doors haven't changed!
I have also apparently signed for parcels when I have been at work!!

But maybe they didn't steal it, maybe there's a confusion and it was left with a different neighbour? It happened to me once, a wrong house no was put on the sorry I've missed you note. I'd be checking with the post office depot, but first I'd wait till Monday, perhaps a different neighbour will bring it over and problem solved.

We had this once. DH went to ask but the neighbour wasn’t in. He is bats and incredibly nasty and vindictive (neighbour not DH). Then the parcel was delivered by the courier company...

If it was left with this neighbour there is no doubt in my mind that she will have nicked it. She has caused hell since she moved in, and the reason we are currently in the process of moving out. I will knock on the other neighbours doors later on and see of they have it, but I am convinced it will have been stolen if it did go to this neighbour.

Could you ask your other neighbours just in case they put the wrong info on the card? And then follow it up with the Royal Mail and the company you ordered from on Monday. There's usually some compensation from RM if they dont get the parcel to you, but I think the company which sent it has to claim.

If the Royal Mail confirm it’s her address it was left at the police might help?

Though they may be a bit swamped atm so I wouldn’t hold out hope for them!

The ops issue will be with the company as they haven't completed the delivery (unless they gave instructions to leave with neighbour but doubtful from the updates)

I think it is illegal to steal post, preventing it getting to the owner. So if the postman confirms he left your parcel with this Neighbour, and it is denied by that neighbour, the police should take an interest.

Speak to royal mail delivery office. They will be able to confirm where parcel was left as items are scanned on doorstep where they're left. You should also put a note on door requesting that items are not taken to neighbours in the future.

We managed to nab the postman today and showed him the card. What a hero he was he went to the neighbour from hell, gave a massive knock on her door, explained he had left the parcel with her and she claimed "oh I had forgotten I had taken that in".

He came and gave it to us and said he will write a note at the depot not to leave parcels with that number anymore.

Hooray! I can’t believe someone would do that though.

Maybe arrange a plain package of fresh prawns to be sent to you but whoops, darn it, be out and ask the postie to deliver it next door (just this once). And never go and ask for it. 😈

I’m so glad the postie helped. He probably thought that he was helping you by leaving the parcel there rather than you having to go to a sorting office.

If it were me I’d buy him a wee bag of sweeties, like a quid worth, nothing drastic, just a nice wee thing to show your appreciation.

When you leave I’d be telling your remaining neighbours about this so they know.

Oh the remaining neighbours know exactly what this neighbour is like. She is a drugged up, alcoholic scum bag. You know the type I mean! Leaves the place looking like a tip, her child is feral and social services are involved. It was a nice place before she moved in last year.

Happened to me once. Ordered some Xmas gifts and they were left with neighbour who we all suspect was in throws of some kind of dementia or MH crisis. She flat out denied she had the gifts and wanted us to come in and search! Said no to that and thankfully the company replaced them very kindly. It was sad really but still wasn’t nice being stolen from.
