Fly tipping

Not sure why I'm posting or what use doing so will do but I just want to rant at the inconsiderate twat(s) who are constantly dumping double mattresses outside our house. Next door has a long fenced part as their house is on the next road so it's where they prop them up.

Every couple of weeks or so one turns up and we ring the council and they pick it up. This has obviously alerted the twat who is probably charging someone money to take their mattress away but dumping it knowing soon it will be removed. Don't have the means to set up a camera but would the council put one up as it's in their interest?

We already litter pick on our road and surrounding roads as like our area to look nice but this mattress dumping is now becoming problematic.

Anyone else have similar problems and have any suggestions? Or just offload here and have a moan so we can commiserate together.

Fly tipping really winds me up. However, I think that the money spent tackling fly tipping would be far better spent making it easier for people to dispose of rubbish in the first place.
Less of the red tape would actually help in the long term. In our county there are several tips, all with different rules for what they will take etc. They are a long distance from each other too. Surely councils are better of if the rubbish is brought to them and sorted than having to go out and clear up elsewhere.

I have a similar issue and the only thing I can think of is to put up some sort of camera, with a sign, with the hope of getting the number plate on camera so you could report it to the council and they could fine the van owner...

Even if you can't put up an actual camera, put up a sign warning that there is a camera.

Or alternatively, get a reasonably-priced wildlife camera and hide it in bushes/undergrowth with a clear view of where you think the flytipper is parking. The camera is triggered by movement, and you download the footage after you retrieve the camera, so no cables.

Seems I'm not the only one Sad Have emailed the council again and it'll be gone in a few days but I know there will be another one appear. Would the council put up some sort of surveillance do you think?
