Hi there,
Could you help me with ideas for my lovely boyfriend. I want to show him how much I care about him- and also this will be the first time I've really bought him a present since we've been together.

Basically in the space of a few weeks we'll have our first anniversary, his birthday then Christmas.
He's booked us a surprise mini-break for our anniversary. I had been thinking of doing that for his birthday (lockdown permitting of course!) but given that his birthday is shortly after our anniversary it might feel too much.

We're in our early 40s, and I've not been in a proper relationship since my 20s, so I don't really know what to do about presents at all.

Could you share any ideas you've done for presents for your partners?

I've bought my husband a whisky subscription where he gets a different one to try every month, tickets to online shows, a new wallet, a t-shirt, ordered a cake for his birthday, posh shaving stuff, liquorice, beer

Any of that helpful?

What does he like doing? Buy stuff to do with that.
What gadgets does he have? Buy add ons for them?

I bought my husband a Barbour bag for work which he loves (hasn’t been use since March though so not the most practical 😂.) Board games, tickets to events or shows, subscription to magazine, print for his office relating to our favourite holiday together. Depends what your boyfriend usually buys for himself, my husband never really thinks to buy nice things so is really pleased when he gets slightly better/different clothes and bits.

Depends what kind of things he likes. If he likes gaming, accessories for his console, if he’s into gardening some expensive tools, if he likes cooking a recipe book. I think the best gifts always show you really know the person because it’s based on their interests.

Thanks for your tips, it's always good to know what other people do.

He's really into music, but I'm not so much, so wouldn't really know what to do for him around that.

I might consider nice clothes like t-shirt, shirt or jumper- but would worry that it was me trying to tell him how to dress rather than a treat.

We have had a couple of nice holidays so I could think of something of a memento around that.
