There’s a circus nearby, the audience are all staying in their cars

Which is a great idea BUT it seems they haven’t sorted out the radio channel the way that the drive in movie place does, so it’s really, really LOUD. And they are encouraging the audience to beep their horns instead of applauding. 😒. I’m hoping the late show won’t be too late.

Sounds horrific

PotteringAlong · 25/09/2020 19:08

What time is the late show?

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 25/09/2020 19:12

I don’t know, I guess I’ll find out. Grin

Ok, so there’s good news and bad news. The late performance is 7pm on Friday and 6pm on Saturday, so quite early. The bad news is that they are there every weekend until the start of November.

That’s a definite mixed bag! Fingers crossed they get their sound system sorted SmileFlowers

Oh I’d be pissed off about that!

That surely must be a breach of the peace? Are the local authority aware as they must have given permission. Failing that the police?

We went to a drive in at Newbury race course in July. They encouraged everyone to beep horns, I didn't and felt very sorry for the people in the flats around the race course.

Go to the circus in your own car soon, then you'll know what they're beeping at. That'll make it more bearable. I think a drive-in circus is a great way to try and keep it going.

I don't think it's a breach of the peace, there is often a circus there, I just don't usually hear it because it's inside the big top. It's in a racecourse car park. People who live here are used to the racecourse PA, the car park is closer to my house than the stadium so it might be that it's the same decibel level as race day but it sounds louder because it's closer. And of course it's more annoying because it's circus music and car horns rather than just a voice.

I'm a bit more mellow about it now that I know it finishes early because I could hear it very clearly up in my bedroom and I wouldn't have been able to sleep.
