Any tips on getting it out? Or is a visit to the option needed.

Tried eye drops, putting another in etc but it appears welded to my my eyeball.

Ouch OP, you have my sympathies.

My advice would be to take a break from trying (I assume you have as you’ve posted). Lots of eye drops and then look up and with your (clean finger) sort of try to slide the lense up. That will hopefully break the seal on it.

Good luck!

Pouring lots of saline in until it rehydrates enough to unstick!

amgine · 25/09/2020 12:42

Go to the opticians. They will fit you in urgently. I had to do this once.

been trying on and off all morning once i realised it didnt feel comfortable

It's so annoying when that happens...
As others have said, try and leave it for a bit. I find if I do that, blink lots and then sort of pinch my eyelid over my eye a few times (if that makes sense!), then blink a bit more it normally loosens it.
Good luck!

Beamur · 25/09/2020 12:44

Are you absolutely sure it's still there? You may have irritated your eyeball by trying.
Irrigated thoroughly with saline and if that doesn't work, get an optician appointment.

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 25/09/2020 12:46

Yes are you absolutely sure it’s still in there? Honestly if you’ve been trying a few hours I’d call the optician and see if you can go in this afternoon.

Suzi888 · 25/09/2020 12:48

Try crying... should loosen it. Otherwise off to the optician, don’t keep prodding it because you can penetrate your eye with it and then it’ll be hospital.

choosername1234 · 25/09/2020 12:54

Are you absolutely sure it's still in there? It's not uncommon for contact lenses to come out unnoticed and to cause confusion ! An optician or urgent care centre will be able to put a small amount of dye into your eye and then look at the eye under a blue light which would show any foreign body (inc contact lenses) up clearly

Flamingosarentreal · 25/09/2020 12:58

i think i can see the edges

Your optician should fit you in as an emergency as it won't take long but I have to say 9 out of 10 times I see someone who thinks their lens is stuck there's nothing to be found, the eye is just extremely irritated from repeated attempts at removal!

Phone up either way, if there's no lens there they'll still check for any abrasions to the front of the eye

myhobbyisouting · 25/09/2020 13:00

Try crying? Really? Can you just cry on demand?

I'd have a break from it OP

Flamingosarentreal · 25/09/2020 13:04

@myhobbyisouting
watching Ambulance programme to make me cry!

The more you mess, the redder your eye will get.
I once tried an eye bath, ended up at the opticians who said lens not there! It was on the floor at home.

I squeeze my lens out with the top and bottom lids (so no touching inside the eye) and it pops out. You could try gently massaging the top and bottom lids, but I'd wait.

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 25/09/2020 13:34

Are you sure you’re not just pulling on your cornea? You wouldn’t be the first one to mistake it for a contact lens. If you’re tried irrigating it with no luck I really would go to the opticians and let someone have a look with the proper equipment.

52andblue · 25/09/2020 13:35

Hydrate it / your eyeball with saline.
Try gently sliding across the eyeball.
If you get a ridge in the middle DO NOT then try to grab that bit to fish it out with tweezers / nail scissors like I did (#stupidaward)
Go to the optician - they will have better lights / expertise to remove

islandislandisland · 25/09/2020 14:29

I turn my eyelid inside out and kind of wiggle it about at the same time, sometimes dislodges it.

Flamingosarentreal · 25/09/2020 15:53

Thanks for all the help. Just back from the opticians and she couldnt see anything .

She said possible a fragment has been left so I am to keep the eye hydrated and it should come out

@Flamingosarentreal fingers crossed for you! must be painful.

Beamur · 25/09/2020 17:08

That's good. I hear a horror story from a friend who knew someone who was convinced he had a lens stuck. He didn't but was trying to pull off the surface bit of his eye... sometimes if you scratch or irritate the cornea it feels like there is something in your eye when there isn't.
