Civil Service Jobs which ones are worth applying for?

There's been a few of CS jobs that I think could work for me but because of where I am, tend to be the remote working ones. I'm sure these ones are the most competitive ones but with every application taking at least a couple of hours I need to find out which ones to go for. Any tips? Tia

I've applied for a lot of jobs at a CS employer close to me in the last two months. I was always rejected quickly despite my CV having everything that was mentioned, plus existing security clearance, so I queried this with an HR friend.

In most circumstances, if there is a role available, they are required to advertise it externally, even if they already have a number of internal and suitable candidates. As an employer, they will always take a suitable internal candidate first, because on-boarding is faster and less expensive. The candidate already has a lot of the relevant contacts, and it can avoid the employer having to pay redundancy to an existing employee.

Definitely apply, but don't take it personally if nothing comes from it. I hope you find something soon.

I'm pretty sure that's what just happened at an NHS job. I know I'll find something eventually but having the time to apply for every single possible vacancy is what I don't have!
