Cervical screening test delays

I received my letter to book in my smear test 3 months ago and have been trying to get an appointment ever since. My doctors surgery is tiny and there is (from what the receptionist said) only one nurse doing all the smear tests and flu clinics.

I've rung three times now and have been told that someone will ring back to book it in, but then no one does. Obviously I completely understand that everything is messed up because of Covid, so I'm not sure whether to keeping chasing or just leave it.

Is this the case everywhere?

No delays here. I had my letter last week. I was offered an appointment this week, which didn’t suit my schedule so I am going Monday

You do know that you can also have this fine at an nhs sexual health clinic. Contact the one closest to you and make an appointment.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately the sexual health clinics in my area don't offer smear tests though - I've already looked into that.

I think I'll give it another chase.
