Is this inappropriate?

I have two DD’s aged 6 and 4. They know I go for a back massage every couple of months and their favourite game in the world is setting up a spa for DH and I.

This consists of them taking all of my creams and lotions out and applying them liberally all over our faces 😆

The only thing is, they asked if they could give me a back massage. I know this sounds silly because many mums bathe with their kids but that’s not something I’ve ever done.

I haven’t wanted them to massage my back in case that’s deemed inappropriate. Am I being too uptight? For reference, I have been a victim of abuse and so I don’t know if I’m being completely over the top.

Thanks.

Not inappropriate at all.

Applesandbananas5 · 24/09/2020 19:42

Okay, thank you. Sorry, I know it’s probably a silly question.

It's totally fine OP.

Stompythedinosaur · 24/09/2020 20:23

I think it is fine.

BraveGoldie · 24/09/2020 20:23

It is totally fine in that nobody else would question it, but OP like in every other way, you only do anything with your body that you are totally comfortable with.... if it feels weird to you, then there is also no need to do it. Totally up to you. 🙂

BabyLlamaZen · 24/09/2020 20:29

I used to love massaging my mum!

Why would it be inappropriate? You pay someone at a spa to do it, like painting your nails. That's not weird either.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 24/09/2020 20:31

Ahh that's so cute! My 10 year old just gave me a back massage as I was so stressed with work. It was a lovely gesture but I think I need an appointment with a chiropractor now!

Me and my Mum always gave each other back massages when I was a kid. Still do if I can persuade her and we're 36 and 65 now 😂

OchonAgusOchonO · 24/09/2020 20:36

I wouldn't consider it inappropriate but if you're not comfortable with a skin to skin massage, would you let them massage you with a t-shirt on?

It's not inappropriate but it completely depends on what you're comfortable with.

DoYouRememberTheInnMiranda · 24/09/2020 20:39

My kids' school invited us mums in to the nursery class for a back massage from our kids for mothers day. The kids basically rolled a tennis ball on our clothed backs. So you could do that if you wanted? And also more endorsement that it's not inappropriate in itself :-)

LadyCatStark · 24/09/2020 20:39

It’s not inappropriate but if you feel word how about a foot rub?

LadyCatStark · 24/09/2020 20:39

*weird

RainbowFlowers · 24/09/2020 20:39

I think its fine in itself but they may then want to do that with friends (still as a game) which I do feel is crossing a boundary.

mogtheexcellent · 24/09/2020 20:40

No different to training a 2 year old to give a foot massage. I may have done that BlushGrin

When ds2 was a toddler, I used to get him to walk up and down my back to get it to click. There may have been bouncing involved to try and get a good click 😆

Coriandersucks · 24/09/2020 20:55

Sounds amazing op - I keep asking my two toddler boys if they want to do mummy’s hair (I find it so relaxing) but they’re not interested yet. I’m giving them a couple more years then if they still say no I’m trying for a girl!

TheGirlWithAPrince · 24/09/2020 21:25

I wish my kids would give me a massage or play with my hair ... only 1 & 2 though so a few years to go to see if this is viable hahah

Tanfastic · 24/09/2020 21:29

My 12 year old has been giving me shoulder massages since he was about 3 😂. I may have to bribe him now he's a bit older but still,....

Cheerybigbottom · 24/09/2020 21:49

My DS (8) charges 20p for a massage, it's more of a good thump really but it keeps him in 20p mix ups. As you can see it can be a benefit from having kids, if they are good at it Grin
