Inspired by another thread.
Our company is a bit old fashioned so it's been difficult with the phones.

Has your company got a great system so you get calls at home, can talk to each other, pass calls through...

Or is it a bit 20th century?

Civil Service- we use Skype for Business that can be used for conference calls, video meetings, instant messaging and a ‘soft phone’ feature so you can call externally

skippy67 · 24/09/2020 18:55

Civil service. We use Microsoft Teams.

WingBingo · 24/09/2020 18:57

NHS, we use Microsoft Teams.

ProfYaffle · 24/09/2020 18:59

Local Authority. We use Teams too.

twilightcafe · 24/09/2020 18:59

I work in an FE college. Our online phone network is atrocious as it never works properly. We just use Teams for phone calls instead.

MeDearNoDear · 24/09/2020 18:59

University, we use Teams too

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 24/09/2020 18:59

We use Teams. If a customer needs to contact us they have to do si by email.

Someone wanted to give my personal mobile number to a customer and I made it very clear it wasn't to be given out, although I know some people are using theirs for customer calls.

I work for a small company, six employees and we all work from our individual homes (always have, even pre-virus). We use a phone system called Vonage, which does all the things you’re looking for. I couldn’t recommend it unreservedly as it has its flaws, but I suppose for the most part it works fine.

hopeishere · 24/09/2020 19:02

We do Skype.

DappledThings · 24/09/2020 19:46

University. We use Teams for calling each other and Anytime365 for calls to the main number which get routed through to the team answering.

MsEllany · 24/09/2020 19:50

High street bank. We use Cisco Webex which I suspect is almost exactly like Teams. We also use Skype - although it took me a while to get a compatible headset. For some reason bluetooth is disabled on my laptop.

I also have a corporate iPhone. I don't work in any customer contact though; the contact centre phone stuff has been completely revolutionised in weeks. Quite something to see what is possible when there is a pressing need!

chomalungma · 24/09/2020 19:52

We do use Teams. It's more for when people ring up from outside. Then it gets complicated. We have some diverts on at the moment.

But we are using our personal mobiles to ring customers back - but we mask our phone number.

Blue chip company, we use zoom. I do get the odd call on my (personal) mobile about work and have shared it with the odd customer. I was thinking I should ask for a work mobile but that's too much effort.

BashfulClam · 24/09/2020 19:57

We use webex for meetings and training and jabber to message and call. My office number comes through jabber.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 24/09/2020 19:59

Teams to talk, phone message on our land line number asking people to email and they will be called back, NHS nursing bank team

Unescorted · 24/09/2020 19:59

Civil service - teams and skype.

HilaryBriss · 24/09/2020 19:59

University - Teams for calling each other, my desk phone redirects to my personal mobile. I don't make outgoing calls.

HoobleDooble · 24/09/2020 20:00

Our phone system is crap, this looks cutting edge ...

We use Gamma Horizon which has a desktop app we can do all the same things we can on our desk phones, just plug a headset in to our laptops.
I think it's a pay monthly subscription thing but it works really well for us.

Hedgehog44 · 24/09/2020 20:00

Accountants. Fab system in the workplace, crap at home. Just calling mobiles. Haven't even got Skype and Teams.

chomalungma · 24/09/2020 20:03

Interesting to see the responses.

Teams is great - and has certainly changed how I work at work.

Civil service... Teams and Skype for Business internally. Teams for collaboration with external contractors.
International meetings are generally via Webex or Blue Jeans (not that I've had to use that yet, so can't comment on how good it is).
With universities etc, zoom works best, but they have to set it up and invite us.

cautiouscovidity · 24/09/2020 20:11

Our company uses BT Cloud Phone. Incoming calls can be diverted to any landline / mobile number (or even several at once so whoever is free can answer first). For outgoing calls (rarely made), there is a phone app we can download and use to make calls from the company's number.

We use Bria Stretto as softphone so basically our laptops become an extension of our desk phone and we use headsets. Skype for Business and Teams for internal calls/video conferencing and instant messaging.
