Your company phone system and WFH

Inspired by another thread.
Our company is a bit old fashioned so it's been difficult with the phones.

Has your company got a great system so you get calls at home, can talk to each other, pass calls through...

Or is it a bit 20th century?

We use Teams. We’ve set up the same hunt groups as if we were in the office for our department numbers and our direct dials come straight through, as you’d expect.

CMOTDibbler · 25/09/2020 07:24

We have Avaya softphones, though everyone calls internally through Teams, and we also chat through that

LollipopViolet · 25/09/2020 07:30

Civil Service here. Teams mainly for internal stuff, sometimes Skype. Then I have a work issued laptop with soft phone technology as my role is inbound telephony. So I plug a headset in and everything goes through the laptop.

Keratinsmooth · 25/09/2020 07:44

Just mobile for calls, zoom and teams for conference calls. I work in IT

bluerad · 25/09/2020 07:47

Another 3CX user here. It's great.

CherryPavlova · 25/09/2020 07:51

We use teams mainly on our laptops but also have smartphones which we can use for either dialogue calls or teams.

We have a call handling team that can transfer external calls or record calls. Mainly they deal with the less complicated external stuff and just send us an email about it, if necessary, so we can call back at a convenient time. We don’t encourage direct calling except from people in other agencies with MOYs that we work with already.
Some agencies we work with use zoom.

We no longer have landlines provided though.

heathergem · 25/09/2020 07:52

Small business, we use 3cx, it's great at home and office.

planplan · 25/09/2020 07:52

Local authority, Skype and Zoom - soon to become Teams. Can also use work mobile if Skype has a funny.

Cardboard33 · 25/09/2020 07:56

I work in a support role in a uni. We use Teams and Zoom "internally" then have work mobiles to redirect our external phone calls. The redirect thing has been used for years, everything else has really just been since lockdown happened.

UpperLowercaseSymbolNumber · 25/09/2020 08:00

Teams internally, Cisco jabber for actual phone calls in/out via the laptop.

Oct18mummy · 25/09/2020 08:01

We also use teams/zoom but our customer services system allowing people to wfh is five9 it links computer to any phone - mobile or landline

MadameBlobby · 25/09/2020 08:04

Some sort of ring central soft phone thing. Same as in the office, there are no physical handsets even there.

MadameBlobby · 25/09/2020 08:05

My last job we didn’t have to record calls so we just used our mobiles and internal meetings were done on zoom or teams

Fluffmonkey82 · 25/09/2020 08:12

Lots of civil servants on here! 😀 I am one too, I have only started WFH we are on a rotation where we are working alternate weeks in the office, we use Skype for meetings, instant messages and have the soft phone for making outbound calls.

chomalungma · 25/09/2020 08:14

It's interesting that few people have said they have a crap phone system at work. Wouldn't surprise me if it's just us - although we do use Teams for communication which is fine. But our current phone system is very 20th century.
