Compulsory school age and holidays

My DD turns 4 in early November. We have just put her name down for some schools for next September.
I'm looking to book a break in mid September next year. I understand that compulsory schooling would start the first term after her birthday ie 1 January 2022 so will I be able to take her away without being fined? Will it cause too much disruption for her to go on holiday 2 weeks into her first term at school? Thanks

You could do it without being fined, but children are very much settling in at that stage and I wouldn't want to disrupt a new starter at that point.

I wouldn't, it would be terribly disruptive, couldn't you go before school starts?

You won’t get fined but it’s a bit rubbish imo

So she’ll be in reception? If so just go, itsfine

They don’t even start full time until mid September so it would be disrupting the settling in weeks, I would avoid it.

Yes. Don’t even think about it. It’s mid September! She will only have been at school for 2 weeks and you want to pull her out for 2 weeks! Really?!

Is there a reason you want to go on holiday at that time? It would be majorly unsettling for your daughter. All the others will be making friends and getting used to the school daily routine.

You won't get fined but the first few weeks of settling and making friends and getting into routines are really important so I wouldn't prioritise a holiday over that. If you can't go in August can you wait until October half term?
