Vax carpet cleaners?

Has anyone used one of these, specifically for a shaggy rug? We have a large (once soft and fluffy) cream area rug, which is a bit dirty and getting matted, and I would like to deep clean and revive it. Would the Vax cleaners do the trick?

I was thinking of getting the Rapid Power Revive.

I have the older style vax ( the bright orange tub one ) it us incredibly powerful and does a good job but by god it's heavy and cumbersome. It is also a standard vac .if you are only going to use it just to do your rug once in a while and not as a normal vac I would recommend hiring a carpet cleaner instead so you don't have to try to find space for a bought one.

I was thinking of using the attachment to clean our sofa and would like to do it a few times a year so I don't mind storing it. But I just wanted to know if it will be able to be used on our shaggy rug?
