30 hours childcare - no reminder to renew and we missed the deadline for this term

Has this happened to anyone else? With DS1 we had email reminders when we were due to renew the code, but not so with DS2. He became eligible for the 30 hours in april, just when everything was going into lockdown and nursery closed. I applied for the 30 hours anyway and got the code. We've had no reminders at all since then and nursery told me yesterday that the code's lapsed and he won't be eligible for the 30 hours funding this term. I had renewed the code earlier this month when I realised I hadn't heard anything about it, but apparently it was too late for whatever deadline the council were working to.

Just wondering if anyone else experienced this?

Obviously it's our FU as we should have set a calendar reminder, but I was expecting to get an email to say the renewal was due.

I’ve missed it before and it didn’t affect anything. My child’s preschool also used to send messages out saying some hadn’t been renewed and could everyone check and do it ASAP so I assumed there was a bit of a grace period

If you've missed the deadline there's nothing you can do I'm afraid.

I missed it and was then only eligible for 15hours so we had an expensive three months!

Yes, sorry it depends when you renew, so sometimes you can miss it, but renew in time, but other times you can't.

Really annoyed at myself for missing it - DS was off nursery from March through to September so it was completely off the radar for us. It's only now he's back and nursery are sorting out all the bills for everyone that we realised it's an issue. Bugger. Looks like we'll revert to the 15 hours and have to make up the difference for the next few months. Lesson learnt...
