Does Tesco know I'm fat?

Received this flyer for F&F clothes in the post. The model on the front is plus-size and I thought, oh that's nice, they're using a variety of models in their advertising. Opened it up and all models inside are plus-size. So I'm wondering if everyone got this flyer or if they are analysing customers' shopping and sending these to people who buy a lot of plus-size clothing*. Has anyone received this flyer, or a different F&F one recently?

  • or a lot of Pringles

I got a saga magazine a while ago through and a tenant lady advertisement leaflet!! I'm 38 years old!! All I can think is that I bought some boots from Pavers the other day, just wondering whether they're in partnership or something.

Ps. My pavers boots are really comfy and cool in my opinion!! :-)

I haven't received it but their newest TV advert seems to only have plus sized women on (not plus sized the way I am though!)

Persipan · 23/09/2020 13:07

I've no idea but they absolutely analyse purchasing, in frightening detail. For example, apparently supermarket analytics can sometimes tell a woman is pregnant before she knows herself, just from subtle shifts in what she buys!

curdsandwhey · 23/09/2020 13:09

Their results must get really confused if you buy a present for someone else.

doctorhamster · 23/09/2020 13:13

They'd be confused as fuck with me. I buy size 18 stuff for me and size 8 stuff for my 12 year old Grin

They factor that into it. They are always one step ahead Confused
Ginkypig · 23/09/2020 13:21

I have no idea if that is a targeted or generic leaflet.

I will say though that yes they probably can tell that you (and me) are fat if you are using a Clubcard or getting your shopping delivered then they have a record of every item you buy and how often you buy it!
So they know exactly how quickly you (I) get through the Pringles and how many kitkats you eat a week!

OK that is next level terrifying @Persipan!

I received exactly the same flyer.. and I am not buying + size clothing.

vanillandhoney · 23/09/2020 14:03

They definitely analyse your purchasing - that's the entire point of things like club cards.

StayClosePooky · 23/09/2020 14:05

I keep getting incontinence flyers through the door Hmm

Thinkle · 23/09/2020 14:09

Ocado went through a phase of giving me dog chews as a free gift. I’ve never had a dog (or other pet) and have no recollection of every buying any kind of pet product from them.
I’ve always wondered how their algorithm got this so wrong!

TheArtOfStoryTelling · 23/09/2020 14:10

I'm pretty sure their data analysis is capable of dealing with customers who buy for family members!

No idea if this brochure is targeted or not OP, but yes I'd say they 100% know your size if you buy clothes from them regularly

nonicknameseemsavailable · 23/09/2020 14:55

I got it and I have a medical condition meaning I am really pretty thin and struggle to put on weight....

safariboot · 23/09/2020 15:01

Their algorithms will make a pretty good guess. They know what you buy, they even know what you look at on the website, and they potential know about other websites you visit.

As the above post shows, the algorithms don't always get it right, and these personless emotionless staistics could easily be upsetting.

dementedpixie · 23/09/2020 15:06

Surely they send the same flyer to everyone. I got the same one too with a money off coupon

Oh really? They keep giving me sweets and booze stuff. Which would be kinda apt.,,
DianaT1969 · 23/09/2020 15:37

Waitrose wouldn't win any points for their analytics. They kept sending me garden brochures - I live in a flat and don't even have a balcony or window box. They regularly sent a pet food brochure. You guessed it. No pets.

Thinkle · 23/09/2020 15:55

@Bluntness100 I’ve had the odd toblerone (who hasn’t) but never free booze! What am I doing wrong?

Bluntness100 · 23/09/2020 15:58

Hmm,,I dunno, maybe buy more booze,,,😃

1000umbrellas · 23/09/2020 17:39

I'm pleased to note everyone seems to be getting the same flyer. But outraged I never get booze offers!
