Which fictional leader would you want to be in charge right now?

Inspired by the "which prime minister" thread.

Which fictional leader (prime minister, president, empress... Whatever!) would you like to be in control of the current situation?

I'm going for Lord Vetinari, from Terry Pratchett's Discworld. Clever, ruthless, efficient, knows the value of human life (to the penny, having trained as an Assassin) but not sentimental (again, Assassin). Doesn't have to worry about public opinion as there's only one vote for leader in Ankh Morpork, and it's his.

Plus he's got Leonardo da Vinci (ok, Leonard of Quirm) locked in a room and a whole university of wizards to call on. I reckon he'd do a pretty good job.

Who's the fictional leader of men & women you'd like to be currently living under?

Shizzlestix · 23/09/2020 21:04

Vetinari is inspired, yes, please!

Dogsaresomucheasier · 23/09/2020 21:06

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 23/09/2020 21:09

Gertrudetheadelie · 23/09/2020 21:16

Picard for me. Earl Grey. Hot.

TerfTerfTerf · 23/09/2020 21:18

Having a hoot discussing this with my mum. She says "even Mrs Tiggywinkle would be better than what we've got", which says more about our literary prowess than anything else GrinGrin

Elizabeth McCord.

Dr House as CMO, Granny Weatherwax as Chief Scientific Advisor.

Graphista · 23/09/2020 21:46

Morgan Freeman pretty much any time he’s played a president or as god in the “almighty” films

Ooh - annalise keating (how to get away with murder)

President Fitzgerald and/or Olivia Pope (scandal)

Miss grayling (head in Mallory towers)

JimmyJabs · 23/09/2020 21:51

Tywin Lannister. Nobody would break the lockdown rules with him in charge. Maybe he could have Roose Bolton as his chief enforcer.

Sarahlou63 · 23/09/2020 21:55

@neverenoughchelseaboots

Birgitte Nyborg, PM from Borgen.
1000% yes! With Elizabeth McCord as Sec. of State.
MrsFriskers · 23/09/2020 22:01

But isn’t real life lead by fictional characters, such as Pinky and The Brain?

sqirrelfriends · 23/09/2020 22:04

Mary Poppins, obviously.

She is charming and terrifying in equal measure and would probably make up all the best songs about washing your hands, wearing a mask and not being a prick.

I'm going for Jon Snow.

As winter is coming and after the year we've had, a horde of White Walkers appearing over Hadrian's Wall wouldn't surprise me...

Bikingbear · 23/09/2020 22:10

Professor McGonigal!

We definitely need some hard nosed magic to get out of this mess. Dumbledore is far to gentle!

Thecazelets · 23/09/2020 22:10

Coming on to say Birgitte Nyborg but I see someone has beaten me to it. Borgen is my escapism just now.

Bikingbear · 23/09/2020 22:10

@tootiredtothinkofanewname

Ryder and the pups? No job too big no pup too small.... my arse! Would love to see the fuckers fail, taking down that fucking mayor and chicken with them.
GrinGrinGrin Lol at that one!
Oliack1417 · 23/09/2020 22:12

@Inextremis

Robin Hood. Obvious reasons.
Fucking yes
NancyBotwinBloom · 23/09/2020 22:47

To be fair there are more people I'd stand behind on here.

NancyBotwinBloom · 23/09/2020 22:50

Anyone volunteering?

I can't.
I'm not clever enough and I have all the wrong qualities.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 23/09/2020 22:54

Mark Darcy from Bridget Jones' Diary. Colin Filth on the telly more? Oh yes.
