Which fictional leader would you want to be in charge right now?

Inspired by the "which prime minister" thread.

Which fictional leader (prime minister, president, empress... Whatever!) would you like to be in control of the current situation?

I'm going for Lord Vetinari, from Terry Pratchett's Discworld. Clever, ruthless, efficient, knows the value of human life (to the penny, having trained as an Assassin) but not sentimental (again, Assassin). Doesn't have to worry about public opinion as there's only one vote for leader in Ankh Morpork, and it's his.

Plus he's got Leonardo da Vinci (ok, Leonard of Quirm) locked in a room and a whole university of wizards to call on. I reckon he'd do a pretty good job.

Who's the fictional leader of men & women you'd like to be currently living under?

Smithers from Alex Rider. But not the cannon one-there's a very good fanfiction version ( If you're interested ) who would sort it and Brexit without people even noticing anything was wrong.

Dorothea Brooke from Middlemarch

Queenoftheashes · 23/09/2020 19:56

Aslan

AdoptedBumpkin · 23/09/2020 19:57

Another vote for Hugh Grant in Love Actually.

tigger1001 · 23/09/2020 20:00

@Gingernaut

Jed Bartlett from The West Wing
Absolutely!
pointythings · 23/09/2020 20:01

Philippa Georgiou from Star Trek: Discovery. But the version from the evil parallel universe where she's Emperor. She'd sort everything and then eat Boris and Dominic Cummings at a state banquet.

Gobelinoisawitchescat · 23/09/2020 20:01

Peter Manion or as someone else said - Harriet Jones

VickySunshine · 23/09/2020 20:04

Grand Moff Tarkin

Madhairday · 23/09/2020 20:06

Was also going to say Elizabeth McCord from Madam Secretary. She would be the best leader ever. Or Jed Bartlett, of course. Matthew Santos would be good too.

Keifer Sutherland in Designated Survivor.

MissTheodore · 23/09/2020 20:06

President Sawyer from White House Down.

LynetteScavo · 23/09/2020 20:10

The Fat Controller.

It's all alright in the end on Sodor.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 23/09/2020 20:11

The Dr. (David Tennent incarnation)

BuggeredItUpAgain · 23/09/2020 20:14

The Fat Controller is possibly one of the few people who would make more of a mess of it than BoJo has. Sir Topham thinks it makes good business sense to use a notoriously unreliable steam train to deliver an already inflated balloon. He’s a fucking imbecile.

MargotsBumpyNight · 23/09/2020 20:15

David Palmer from 24.

Actually, just make it Jack Bauer.

IdblowJonSnow · 23/09/2020 20:23

Boudica. Or even Margaret Thstcher. She was ruthless, would have sorted it by now.
Anyone but Boj

Purplemushroom · 23/09/2020 20:25

Captain Barnacles

MrsSnitchnose · 23/09/2020 20:31

Kingsley Shacklebolt

KingscoteStaff · 23/09/2020 20:33

Jed Bartlet

And Harriet Jones

And Mervyn Bunter

Fishfingersandwichplease · 23/09/2020 20:46

Gordon Brittas from The Brittas Empire😂😂

amgine · 23/09/2020 20:50

Jed Bartlett

Dreamersandwishers · 23/09/2020 20:51

It’s already been said but Jean Luc Picard - make it so

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/09/2020 20:53

I'd like a Vetinari/Lady Margolotta double bill. He'd connive and she'd scare the crap out of the repeat offenders.

With Vimes as further enforcement.

And Weatherwax as policy advisor and chief medical officer.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 23/09/2020 20:54

I’m torn between Tyrion Lannister and Admiral Horatio Hornblower.

FakeCutlassesAreAGatewayWeapon · 23/09/2020 20:59

Totally on board with Veterinari and Vimes. Make sure Sybil is around as well. She won't take any shit from a pandemic.

Nobbynobbsknob · 23/09/2020 21:01

Vote for Vetinari here as well.
And I also agree with Vimes and Granny Weatherwax for enforcement and medical policy

May I also forward Moist Von Lipwig for Chancellor as we seem to be building a cabinet here
