Very quick wash. It doesn't smell right if you don't.

spiderlight · 23/09/2020 09:48

I do. It softens it and gets rid of the 'new' smell and the smell of the plastic packaging.

AnneLovesGilbert · 23/09/2020 09:49

Always wash!

Always wash first.

GetRid · 23/09/2020 09:50

Yes

Toddlerteaplease · 23/09/2020 09:50

Never. I love that just out of the packet feeling.

happymummy12345 · 23/09/2020 09:51

No, I have enough washing to do without washing new things first as well

JollyAndBright · 23/09/2020 09:54

Definitely always wash it.
Most say to on the packaging.

whatamess4 · 23/09/2020 10:15

No

PattyPan · 23/09/2020 10:27

Yes, always wash. Makes it softer!

MaxinesTaxi · 23/09/2020 10:28

I do with bedding yes - it’s always a bit stiff and smells funny. I don’t with clothes

Rubyroses3 · 23/09/2020 10:30

I always wash new bedding and clothes.

TheYeaSayer · 23/09/2020 10:35

No, I don't. And can't imagine washing new clothes!

SpringSunshineandTulips · 23/09/2020 10:37

Always!

espressoontap · 23/09/2020 10:38

Yes, it smells awful otherwise.

HelpMeh · 23/09/2020 10:40

I air it out and wash if I can be bothered. Last time I bought new bedding from IKEA it absolutely reeked of chemicals when it first came out of the packaging.

daisypond · 23/09/2020 10:41

Never.

whirlwindwallaby · 23/09/2020 10:42

Always. Though I prefer old soft bedding (Had to buy new three years ago after a move).

timetest · 23/09/2020 10:43

Yes. It smells a bit chemically when it’s just out of the packet.

viccat · 23/09/2020 10:44

Always wash. It's been touched by a lot of hands during production and packing and been in factories that can be dusty and dirty. And there are usually chemicals on brand new fabric anyway.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 23/09/2020 11:07

Never with clothes but always with bedding. Quick 30 deg wash with dettol laundry cleanser and some fabric softner.

silverwings · 23/09/2020 11:07

nope, never

GreyishDays · 23/09/2020 11:09

If it smells chemically, then yes. So generally yes these days.

Bahhh · 23/09/2020 11:13

Of course - it's been sitting in warehouses and on container ships or on cargo planes, probably chucked about and left on the floor for little bugs to get at.

utterlynutty · 23/09/2020 11:13

Always
