Or do you just stick it on the bed !!

Yes.

HironsBirons · 23/09/2020 11:19

Always. Supermarket bedding doesn’t come in plastic anymore, it’s just got a piece of cardboard wrapped around the fabric 🤮

FlouncingBabooshka · 23/09/2020 11:21

Yes, for all the reasons already mentioned.

I also wash new underwear after reading about someone whose job it was to remove cockroaches from knickers before they were packed 🤮

No.

I can't even keep up with my clothes washing. I definitely don't add to it.

Okbutnotgreat · 23/09/2020 11:36

Yes wash everything new before putting on bed or wearing. It’s been through countless hands and would be gross to just use immediately.

peachescariad · 23/09/2020 11:37

Yes to get rid of that crisp feeling and to soften it a bit.

DappledThings · 23/09/2020 11:38

Nope. Never.

We had the same thread last week. I had no idea people did this and no amount of talking about weird smells (that I've never experienced) or whatever "chemicals" are possibly on it has changed my mind.

Snorlax86 · 23/09/2020 11:38

Always, who wants to go to bed on sheets smelling of plastic/cardboard, not knowing where they have been, much nicer to have the fresh sheet feeling with a clean smell.

MaxinesTaxi · 23/09/2020 11:39

I’m not in the least bit fussed about hands or insects touching them, I just don’t want to sleep in sheets that feel a bit stiff and smell strongly of chemicals

The stiffness is the best bit. That's what makes it feel so lovely and new! I really need to start using starch to try and get my washed bedding feeling newer I think.

MaxinesTaxi · 23/09/2020 11:42

Ah you see I love sheets and towels crisp from washing and line drying - I like an abrasive towel - but sheets out of the packaging are different

DappledThings · 23/09/2020 11:49

I like an abrasive towel
Nothing finer! Line dried are far superior to limp tumble dryer towels Grin

pinkbalconyrailing · 23/09/2020 11:49

yes
they are absulutely filthy.
plus they have thd ugly creases from the packaging
plus they stink

ClinkyMonkey · 23/09/2020 11:59

Nah. Straight on the bed. If I start overthinking about whose hands have touched them, I'll be back to the days of my OCD. And there are chemicals everywhere, every day. I can live with the smell in my bedding for a few days.

Lardlizard · 23/09/2020 12:14

Ok thanks for v mixed replies I’m just going to air it on the line

Lardlizard · 23/09/2020 16:58

When I took it out it stank, so I’ve washed it
It looks so creased though
Because it s100percent cotton
So now I have to iron too !🙈🙈🙈🙈

I am intrigued by this smell people talk about. I've bought a lot of bedding over the years from a lot of different shops and never once noticed any particular smell.

lachy · 23/09/2020 17:53

I do, because it smells fishy to me.

Couldn't sleep in a funny smelling bed.

lynsey91 · 23/09/2020 18:50

Yes definitely. To me it's pretty yucky to just put it on the bed

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 23/09/2020 18:51

I do wash new bedding (and underwear) but I just put it through a quick wash rather than the wash I’d use once it had been used.

to me it smells like a mix of 'chemical' like a hair dye or fake tan and mould/cellar mixed together.
StayCool · 23/09/2020 19:10

Yes, and towels.

DappledThings · 23/09/2020 19:11

That does sound pretty gross. I'm usually pretty sensitive to mould/damp type smells but never got it from bedding.

Coffeeandaride · 23/09/2020 19:13

No, never noticed a bad smell!

Sunshine1235 · 23/09/2020 19:15

No but I’m always too excited to see how it looks on the bed
