I need a focus

I struggle through Autumn into Winter as it is - I hate the cold and damp, the shorter days, and through October and November, knowing there's still a way to go (interestingly I find January and February generally fine, because days are back to getting longer, and we're on the other side towards Spring). With another 6 months minimum of Covid restrictions, I need some focus.

During the initial lockdown, I did some themed cooking (around where we were supposed to be travelling that week), we got some rooms decorated, planned some bigger house works, got to grips with the garden and started a veg patch, upped the exercise, completing C25k with DS13 but I'm feeling like I've run out of steam. I'm still working at home, I've got bushel loads of apples to use up, but planned European city breaks are looking increasingly unlikely - another round of cancelled holidays.

So, I need so bring some focus back to my life, what are you doing to feel you're making use of this strange time?

Like you, this is my crap time of year. Memories of loss along with season changes, and with enforced WFH, when my job is usually really varied and full of people, I feel I could really slip this year.

So... trying to get fitter. Suspect this will be back to just Zoom classes and walking soon, but need to try and keep it up through winter. Read something yesterday about ‘awe’. Boost your well-being by getting outside and noticing something awesome. So I am going to invest in thermals and waterproofs so I can get out and try and find a bit of awe everyday.

Thanks @partystress. Exercise is ok, I've got an Apple Watch and can't bear not meeting my daily goals, although I've definitely taken my foot off the pedal (painfully demonstrated by a recent PT session after a month off and barely being able to walk down the stairs for 3 days Grin), so could do with ramping it up again. I've done quite a lot of walking with friends over the summer, so that will need replacing.

I love the sense of 'awe' though. I tried really hard in the first half of this year to see the covid situation as one for opportunity, I just need to find that feeling again...I think seeking awe is a good one!
