Boosting Wi-Fi from phone

DH is in hospital. Has an iPhone. Wi-Fi is very patchy is there any way to boost it just using his phone? Can you get a dongle or anything??

Can't you just switch to mobile data?
If you mean using it to get better WIFI for your laptop then you can create a hotspot (settings) I have a MacBook so I don't know if it works iPhone to normal laptop.

Thanks. He's in another country so is worried about the cost of mobile data I think.
