No Flu Vaccinations available for the under 65's anywhere

Just that really, trying to get vaccinations for DD's, DH and myself, but we don't qualify. A nagging, and I know in my heart, probably unreasonable, little voice, is wondering whether it would not be better to vaccinate the working population in order to keep things going. What happens if we all go down with Covid plus Flu....... unlikely but......

Have you tried patient access? I'm booked for mine next week (age 36) but mine is free if that makes a difference!

Well I'm booked in to have my done tomorrow at boots, only booked it a few days ago. Must depend on local availability.

I don't understand - do you mean on the NHS or privately?

Must pharmacy chains will give you the flu jab for about £14 in the shop itself.

muddledmidget · 21/09/2020 16:31

If you don't qualify for the free NHS jab you can pay to have one done at almost any pharmacy, usually costs £8 or 9 and appts are available at weekends and evenings. Tesco are vaccinating anyone over the age of 12 and you book the appt online

ParisOnWheels · 21/09/2020 16:31

I’ve just booked mine for the week after next. But I’m entitled to a free one from the GP. It’s early yet for private ones to be available in my experience.

fliss444 · 21/09/2020 16:34

I have mine booked for next week at Tesco's. 9 pounds.

Baaaahhhhh · 21/09/2020 16:44

Big Message on Boots main website, no further bookings for under 65's Sad.

I had mine done at Boots today- paid for it —and I booked it online in August.
The pharmacist said she has 8 doses left of the under 65 jab and all are for people who had pre booked like me.
She hasn’t managed to have it herself yet!
Very glad DH had his on Saturday and my parents (in their 70s) had theirs last week.
Hoping school do the nasal flu for kids ASAP, had the consent form last week.

Mindymomo · 21/09/2020 16:49

I booked mine at Tesco for next week. GP surgery said they are vaccinating over 65 and those with medical conditions first, which is fine with me.

The under 65s vaccine is out of stock at the moment. Pharmacies can't order more stock in, so all bookings have been frozen until more jabs are available. Some pharmacies will have some stock to cover the ppl that have already booked but can't take any more bookings until further notice.

Baaaahhhhh · 21/09/2020 16:50

None at Boots or Lloyds or Superdrug. GP not doing them for under 65's.

Didn't think about Tesco's - thank you, just looking and they have some slots from early October. Thank you MN's.

That's a shame. I was going to recommend them. Perhaps a temporary shortage of tests ?

BashfulClam · 21/09/2020 16:51

Me and my husband are both 40, we got ours at boots yesterday. Maybe they just have too many people now.

Sirzy · 21/09/2020 16:51

If you don’t medically qualify then you will have to find somwhere doing it privately. There is obviously going to be more demand this year which is why it is important to prioritise

Ds was shielding but it’s still the middle of next month before he can be fitted in for his at the GP

Pavlova31 · 21/09/2020 16:52

As in Boots.

My son and I qualify for health conditions but my surgery are only doing over 65s and it says 'they hope to get another delivery next month to move to other vulnerable groups'

Boots, which flu jab is it?

Super drug is quadrivilent... Ie 4 strains...

Jessicabrassica · 21/09/2020 17:04

Interesting that they are available for 12+. Wonder what 11yos do. Don't qualify for school vaccines if in Yr7 but can't buy them either.

Mangofandangoo · 21/09/2020 17:06

My surgery are vaccinating the elderly and vulnerable first - it's still fairly early, last year I didn't have my vaccine untill November.

Sirzy · 21/09/2020 17:07
