Stench

There is a horrific stench in my living room, I've checked all of the drains - no problems, checked under the sofas, crawled about on my hands and knees sniffing everything, I have literally checked everything and can't find the source.
The downstairs loo does not stink, the kitchen does not stink.
It smells like someone has poured milk all over the floor and turned the heating up to 30 degrees and left it on for a few days, I don't drink milk.
I am beside myself. I have just lit some charcoal and am burning some strong incense on it in the hopes the smell will go away. WTF!!!!

Do you have a chimney breast with a air vent it it. Possibly a bird has fallen in and died . Or something under your floorboards .

I’m guessing a dead animal under the floorboards or in the wall.

Do you get shield bugs where you are? I'm not in the UK but we call them stinky bugs. They smell revolting if you touch them - god help you if you accidentally squish one. It is the worst smell in the world Envy

Has your cat brought something in?

OP Your description of the smell leads me to think it is a dead animal of some sort. Most likely a bird at the back of your fire
