How long does ‘stomach flu’ last?

How long does stomach flu/stomach bug/some sort of viral arsehole visitor last?

Wednesday this started and I thought I felt sick due to anxiety (I’m a bit nervy as I start uni soon!) but nope, it was a bug.
Thursday and Friday maybe? Can’t remember (TMI warning) I had 6x episodes of diarrhoea and one vomiting episode.
Yesterday and now today I haven’t had episodes of anything but I still feel shitty. I barely have an appetite but when I do feel hungry I make sure I snack. I have had about two proper main meals since Wednesday. I have moments where I think yay I feel better, then it hits me again. I just ate some dry cornflakes and now I feel really sick again.

When will this goooo?? 😭😭😭

Also, I have been a stickler for hand hygiene, mask wearing and distancing. Where the fuck did I get this?! I am so mad.

It depends - 'stomach flu' doesn't really exist. It's either a virus or some form of food poisoning (bacterial infection). Norovirus is grim and can last a long time, other viruses less so. Same with food poisoning. Also Covid can present with interstinal symptoms...

I would rest your digestion, if you have to eat then eat bland food, small portions. No dairy. Drink lots of water.

I was ill for 6 weeks aged 20.
It came on very quickly and initially I thought it was food poisoning. But I ended up being sick, feverish and delirious for two weeks (I have no memories), and 'just' sickness and diarrhoea and slightly feverish for another two.
I eventually went back to work after 6 weeks, nearly two stone lighter and knackered- I was only a wisp of a thing to start with back then. It was put down to a gastric flu virus.

I hope you feel better soon. Eat just tiny amounts of whatever you fancy until your stomach settles. And plenty of sips of something to rehydrate you- not just water.

Thank you both

I think with DP working whilst I’m not I’ve been trying to sort dinner for him and trying that and it’s certainly not going well. He finishes early tonight so will make him cook his own and il just have toast etc.

Definitely no Covid symptoms.

Blimey @DinosApple that sounds like an awful time. Luckily it’s not that bad but I do feel exhausted!
