🚨 (Light hearted thread alert)

I HATE prosecco- it’s horrible- it’s tastes like fizzy piss. (No i’ve never tasted urine before but this is how I imagine it would taste)

I also hate crisps. They are the opposite of cake- mmm cake.

Mrs Browns Boys is not funny whatsoever. I tried to watch a few episodes but my eyes started bleeding.

I hate watching people dancing. It’s boring. I do not understand why Strictly is so popular.

Please tell me your unpopular opinions? Grin

Thong bikinis... look uncomfortable & why show your butt?

Men is v v tight speedos...esp as they get older! Yeuch.
Urban sprawl...I know housing is needed & traffic calming etc required but I hate to see the countryside eroded
Misusing the word 'of' in a sentence...it so irritates me I have blanked & have no example
Pronouncing 'th' like 'f'. I get it that it is dialect but ? I don't get it so!
People insisting you hold their babies - I don't dislike babies, I had some of my own... but don't really want to hold yours & it is not because I'm 'nervous'...I just don't want to smell the dirty nappy or get puked on etc
Competetive dinner nights... you know, invited for 'simple, just thrown together dinner' & when you get there it is 7* with no pretence that it hasn't taken 48 hrs prep & the house gleaming with cleaner brought in esp. It is nice to entertain but when facing that level of pressure, I'd rather they got a takeaway...
Parents who continually make excuses for their children's poor behaviour rather than correct them

I feel like Victor Meldrew now...so refreshing to get it out (but not loudly!)

@user1497207191

Sunday roasts are horrible

Yes, can't stand them but you're made out to be weird if you say that.

And, yes, I feel the same about a traditional Christmas Turkey dinner.

If it wasn't for the older family members, I really wouldn't bother. I dream of going abroad for Xmas to avoid it but when I looked, a lot of hotels do Xmas dinners - aargh!

@user1497207191 it just turns my stomach. Such a waste of meat because it always ends up bone dry and freezing cold. Sticking a bit of hot gravy on it doesn’t improve it. And fucking boiled vegetables, Jesus Christ. The thing that really bothers me is that it’s meant to be a treat.
DinosApple · 20/09/2020 09:14

Grin I just came on to say I find Mary Berry creepy. It's the piercing blue eyes!

tornadoalley · 20/09/2020 09:19

Brie and Camembert cheese taste like solidified vomit.

remainin · 20/09/2020 09:29

That I don't like dogs. They smell, especially when wet, they're slobbery, they're unsanitary, they bite, lick, sniff, scratch... the worst is people who treat them like they're children, dressing them in stupid little ribbons and such.

I was bitten in the face by a dog when I was a toddler so I suppose that's why I particularly dislike them.

The80sweregreat · 20/09/2020 09:36

My brothers ' alpha' dog is cute, but they do let it get away with so many things , yet they were so strict with their own children!
Some Dogs need boundaries too!
people are just too anal about every little thing these days. Man up a bit!

The80sweregreat · 20/09/2020 09:43

Mary Berry isn't a ' sweet lady' , those eyes tell a story of being ruthless and ready to elbow anyone out the way with her rolling pin I bet! Most bakers chefs and butchers have personality disorders of some kind a bit like actors and artists! It's those 'creative genes ' that does it to them!
Paul Hollywood is the same too! Smile

ShivRoy · 20/09/2020 09:43

@hiptobeasquare

Grease 2 was way better than Grease.
This is the correct opinion
ANoTail · 20/09/2020 09:53

Children's behaviour IS much worse than it was a generation ago.
Competitive parenting is usually less annoying than the counter movement of "If you're dressed halfway decently and your children aren't screaming or biting passersby then you're a try-hard, stuck up, evil bitch ubermummy, who is obviously deeply insecure and just trying to compensate for the fact that her husband is sleeping with another woman."

There is a middle ground. A very big one in which most people are settled and seem happy.

On a lighter note, I quite like Mrs Brown's Boys.

ChelseaDaggers · 20/09/2020 09:55

Mary Berry is not a sweet lady at all! She is an amazing cook though and probably very shrewd. Just because she's an older woman does not mean she has to be sweetness and light. Of course she will be competitive. She studied in Paris and they do not fuck about in kitchens there. It is highly competitive. Who says she has to be a sweet old dear?

VickySunshine · 20/09/2020 10:01

WildRosie ... Roger that! I don't adore Boris or Domonic Cummings but I'm on board. Also, that the EU are an insular and self-serving cartel who never had any intention of negotiating in good faith. Feminism is overtly misandrist in nature and the Wokerati are cultural Fascists. Finally, that Prince Harry is an emasculated doormat who lacks the intellectual capacity to open a packet of tea.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 20/09/2020 10:10

50/50 care after divorce shouldn't be the automatic go to as it's not suitable for every situation.

Being a SAHP is way easier than a working one (I've done both).

Stepfamily situations are usually more trouble than they're worth and often done in the selfish interests of the adults rather than what is best for the children.

Gin is shit.

ChelseaDaggers · 20/09/2020 10:17

Gin is shit.

Most shocking part of your post! Gin gin forevaaaaaah!!!!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 20/09/2020 10:18

Chelsea I knew it would be controversial so I snuck it in at the end. Grin

ChelseaDaggers · 20/09/2020 10:20

Ha! Caught you. Not much gin gets past me Grin!

Esbm2015 · 20/09/2020 10:36

Children - can’t understand why anyone would want them and means all their parents want to do is talk about their child and assume I should be interested in their child and are still confused why I wouldn’t want their life. I find it all so dull!

Feminism - yet people still obsess over people being married, finding the one, having families, being SAHMs and relying on man to pay....

People getting upset over nudity/nipples/page3/pictures of women who are pretty (usually slim). Again linked to feminism argument. Get over it most of the world has a less Victorian attitude to nudity and if I see a good looking woman who has clearly worked out to look that way I applaud her as I wouldn’t put in time and effort so good on her rather than people tearing into her

Slug eyebrows, lip jobs etc all look cheap and nasty. No one looks elegant anymore

New builds are boring and cold and have made lots of areas that could one have been nice boring and cold and soulless. I look at old pictures of towns/ cities and think they looked between back then. Homes built after 1940 have generally ruined a lot of places with their ‘new’ design and it makes me sad to see more beautiful countryside lost to soulless boxes.

People shouldn’t expect to be able to live where they wish. Places will always be cheaper or expensive if they area a nicer area to live. Deal with it. Doesn’t mean places should be spoiled by cheap looking ‘affordable homes’ and never ending blocks of flats.

Lockdown is a waste of time and will kill this country further if there’s another

Influencers setting up luxury accounts reviewing and putting up pictures of places they have never stayed/eaten at and feel they still have a right to promote the place. They don’t know if it’s any good and often have no idea of ‘luxury’ market ie good wines. They’re just after freebies.

People who feel their children should be allowed everywhere and should be allowed to make noise. No people don’t want to go out to a crèche.

Dyed red hair looks cheap and nasty on everyone

Oof that’s a lot!

ssd · 20/09/2020 10:39

Most women on MN get their knickers in a twist about fuck all.

Bargebill19 · 20/09/2020 10:40

@Esbm2015

Yes!

Ameanstreakamilewide · 20/09/2020 10:45

@Eastie77

'Non-binary' people who insist on being called 'they' are utterly ridiculous attention seekers. Yes I said it.
I say 'they' must have a tapeworm...
Facade1983 · 20/09/2020 10:46

Yesterday's unpopular opinion is today's bigotry and tomorrow's message deleted by Mumsnet HQ.

Mine is that children should have to study history and RE all through school, to understand why we are as we are.

Sparklingbrook · 20/09/2020 10:46

@ssd

Most women on MN get their knickers in a twist about fuck all.
Ain't that the truth. And a lot of the men TBF...
Ameanstreakamilewide · 20/09/2020 10:49

@Sciencebabe

Ooh God, so many... Pigs/piglets disgust me. Dogs licking their dicks disgusts me. Schools that have a fucking online app and post 5 things a day - just fuck off and tell me the important shit via newsletter.

And the Biggie...
Pregnant people STILL fucking complaining that they can't take their partner to a scan or hospital - it's not new news, fucking get over it and buy a private scan if you really want him there 😳 -this is mostly because I am one of the said pregnant people and my husband is in the army. Me and thousands of others spend our pregnancies and sometimes births alone (even without a pandemic 😱) its something you have to just fucking deal with.

Pregnant 'people'? 🤰
SallySeven · 20/09/2020 10:51

I hate presents.

Biscuits tend to be too dry on their own and interfere with the enjoyment of a hot drink.

The "going" on holiday usually negates any joy you may find while on holiday. Although I know a few people who say the same so maybe it's not such an unpopular opinion.

City breaks are dull. Like all UK towns came to resemble one another European ( and beyond) cities are now doing the same.

PollyPandaPops · 20/09/2020 10:55

Young children are incredibly dull.
Eating meat is grotesque.

SallySeven · 20/09/2020 10:57

I like little kids. Up to a point.
