Am I being dumb or does this recipe make no sense?

here
When do I use the bowl with the garlic and ginger?
What happens to the bit of the peanut butter mix that doesn't get heated up with the coconut milk?

Oh hang on question two is answered, there's a sauce. Still don't know if the garlic and ginger goes in with the peanut butter

Is that not what you are using to marinate the chicken?

sleepyhead · 19/09/2020 14:26

Its all the one bowl - put the lime juice etc in with the ginger and garlic.

Use a third of the mix as a marinade for the chicken and the other 2 thirds goes into the pan to make the sauce.

It makes nice chicken satay, but yes it's terrible recipe writing.

StealthPolarBear · 19/09/2020 14:27

But it tell you to put the garlic and ginger and zest into a bowl
And then the peanut butter and soy sauce into a bowl, not the bowl.
It must be. Otherwise its not used.

The garlic and ginger get mixed with everything to make the marinade and sauce ? 1/3 is marinade the rest the sauce. It's no particularly well written.

KetoPenguin · 19/09/2020 14:28

You mix all the ingredients then use some for the sauce and some for the marinade

sleepyhead · 19/09/2020 14:28

It should say THE bowl.

dementedpixie · 19/09/2020 14:29

Peel the ginger and help them to finely grate it and tip it into a bowl. Repeat with the garlic and lime zest. Halve the lime and get your child to juice it, then mix it in a bowl with the honey, soy, curry powder and peanut butter

Cut the chicken into strips, tip it into the remaining third of the peanut-butter mix, then get your child to stir well
.

StealthPolarBear · 19/09/2020 14:29

I didn't realise there's a sauce. Won't be bothering with that, we'll have extra we'll marinated chicken :o

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 19/09/2020 14:31

Yeah you mix it all up then use â…“ as a marinade and the rest for the sauce

sleepyhead · 19/09/2020 14:31

If you're not bothering with the sauce then at least half the ingredients. It makes quite a lot of sauce.

StealthPolarBear · 19/09/2020 14:31

I'm the sort of person who would just assume one bowl and chuck everything in. I've regretted that in the past so was trying to be extra careful!

You cant have satay without satay sauce! Thats why you have the coconut milk

Frownette · 19/09/2020 14:33

Seems alright, it's written for cooking with children. So bowl with ginger garlic bit of peanut butter other ingredients for marinating chicken.

Then rest of peanut butter, coconut milk for serving on the side with the grilled chicken. God autocorrect nearly put children Blush

No it's not very clear though!

StealthPolarBear · 19/09/2020 14:33

I know that now, tin of coconut milk going spare :)
Dd won't want sauce, ds won't eat satay and dh days he's not bothered. I am vegetarian!

dementedpixie · 19/09/2020 14:33

There's even a bowl of the sauce in the photo

dementedpixie · 19/09/2020 14:34

StealthPolarBear · 19/09/2020 14:34

StealthPolarBear · 19/09/2020 14:35

katy1213 · 19/09/2020 14:43

It's a very badly written recipe. Pick another one.

StealthPolarBear · 19/09/2020 14:43

The only reason I'm doing this is because dd loves the little chicken satay sticks from sainsburys deli but they've all closed round here.
