Breathlessness what to do?

Beginning of last week I came down with a heavy cold. I didn’t have corona symptoms so didn’t get tested. I started to feel better about four days ago, but the past two days, I have been feeling like breathing is taking effort. Odd sensation in my throat so I keep clearing it. I’m starting to get quite anxious and tearful about it. I phoned the doctor and they have booked me in for a blood test on Thursday. Thursday seems a long time away but I guess it’s also not bad enough to warrant a trip to a&e either, I’m not gasping for air, just very aware that breathing is harder and makes my throat feel odd. Has anyone had this? Is there anything I can do myself? Really worried I’m going to end up having anxiety attacks.

Oh my god you're me (although mine only started today). The sensation in the throat is really unpleasant.

It's ok, try to stay calm until Thursday when you can find out more. I'm not medically trained so can't give proper advice but they obviously think it can wait for a few days.

If it gets worse go straight in.

Ring 111 and try to get a GP appointment to get examined.

The doctor said it could just be my body still recovering from the illness last week or could be something like anemia. I’m such a wimp when it comes to health stuff, just want it to go away. The problem with me is that health stuff can drag on a lot longer when anxiety gets involved and then it becomes difficult to know whether illness is causing anxiety or anxiety is causing ‘illness’.
