Why did Instagram delete my selfie? And twice?!

I usually post pretty photos of sunsets, scenery, stuff like that.

Found a selfie that accidentally took on my iPhone, just my face against the sky with my hair flying around. I liked the light & colours, so posted it, with a few lines about selfies.

It received quite a lot of likes! But got deleted.

I posted it again. Again, got my likes, a few new followers. And it got deleted AGAIN!!

Why?

@Springersrock

My daughter has an Instagram account for horse riding

She had a post last week that kept being deleted - her cantering through the sea and a short video of them jumping groynes - no one else in the photo at all, nothing in the background other than a cliff, sea and sky. The caption said something about how lucky we were to live where we do and what a great time she’d had.

She had to post it about 4 times in the end

That’s so weird! There must be a glitch in the system.

@awsomer

An account I follow has a temporary ban because they used a caption which Instagram said made it look like they were trying to misuse the algorithm for extra likes.

That’s so odd! What caption did they use? How could you misuse the algorithm through a caption?

I can’t remember the exact wording but it was something along the lines of “if you’ve been following me for a while but aren’t seeing my posts regularly, it’s because Instagram shows content based on how you interact with the account. The more you like and comment on my posts, the more you’ll see what I post”.

That’s so odd @TownHallDesigner I see plenty of people saying things along those lines. I mean... it’s true!

I guess the last line is usually something like ‘the more your engage with someone’s posts the more you’ll see of them in your feed’ so it doesn’t come across as asking for comments/likes.
