Anyone remember this 90s TV drama series about relationships

I think it was part of a short series of dramas, possibly made by the BBC, for valentine's day- stories about relationships.

The one I'm thinking of was a story about a young woman at uni who went on a blind date with her friend's brother who is lovely but she accuses him of raping her. The story was played out in flashbacks to the night of the date. It was really good.

There was another in the series about a guy who starts dating a prostitute who through a series of events becomes one himself.

Anyone remember the series and what they were called? Would love to find them.

It was really good with a great twist at the end too.

The actor who played the brother in it was in a Thomas Hardy adaption around the same time but I can't find that either. I thought it would help me to find the show but now I just have more TV programmes i can't remember.

I definitely remember the first one. It was very good. I'm wracking my brain trying to remember who was in it - seem to remember the woman was relatively well known.

I remember it. But can’t think what it is called.

Ch4 did one which is similar and that had guy from Tess of the d’ubervilles in it David Tennet but can’t t remember what that was called either.

Yes I think it was Tess of the D'urbervilles.

Also I remember the first one had the Massive Attack song Protection in it. They were at a party dancing as part of their blind date.

I’ve got a feeling the boyfriend at the party was James MacAvoy. Agree woman was Thandie Newton.

I've tried looking for the Hardy show but I can't match up the actors.

I thought it was Oliver Milburn but I still can't find the drama. I remember he was gorgeous. The woman could have been Thandie.

That summary really looks like it could be it and it was told from both their points of view and you think he's innocent the whole way through.

I found that drama too much. Like the OP, it was aired decades ago but I still remember bits of it. It was so uncomfortable. I can't remember the name of the character but that is a tv drama that gave me flashbacks Confused

The rape one was really good. It showed two different sides because it was being played out in court, I think?

They went on a date and he walks her home. She says good night to him and shuts her door. It’s raining and he goes back and knocks on the door again, and asks if he can stay the night because he can’t get home.

In one version, he persuades her to let him sleep on her bed and they have sex, but it’s consensual.

In the second version, he rapes her and she is crying, saying she has a tampon in. I always remember that bit.

In the end, he goes free and it’s clear he did rape her, I think. From what I remember anyway.

It was good, so well done and so traumatising.

Same here. I can still remember it, despite airing so long ago.
