Here we go you lovely lot, Thread 11.

Post some lyrics of a song 70s, 80s, 90s (boundaries may be slightly pushed either way). State the decade & we will try to guess Artist(s) and song.

Flouncer in Denial - Hello! Yes, The Sensual World. I haven't met Babooshka or Willow yet...
Yes, I was so fortunate to see Before the Dawn. I actually went three times (don't hate me!). I have loved Kate's work since my teens and waited 35 years to see her perform live. She's a national treasure. Did you get to go?

HarrietsweetHarriet · 19/09/2020 08:19

Oh... that's Houdini! The Dreaming is such an awesome album x

FlouncerInDenial · 19/09/2020 08:30

Bloody hell. 3 times is keen! My friend went twice. Yes, I was there and Babooshka went too

Correct with Houdini

Glad to hear you all managed to get tickets. I got tickets for my fam with the fanclub code. Then a friend gave me a ticket to go with her for her 40th birrhday. And on the last night I went along to see if I could get a ticket with a little sign that read "any spares for a ticketless Hound?". It did the trick and a lovely person sold me and a guy from Germany his spares at face value. The concerts are the closest I've come to a spiritual experience; the love from the audience was overwhelming. I hope Kate felt that too.

FlouncerInDenial · 19/09/2020 08:48

I went quite early in the run. I think it was the first Saturday. And she was definitely overwhelmed by the love.

Fleamaker123 · 19/09/2020 08:53

Morning all 😊

FlouncerInDenial · 19/09/2020 08:55

shinynewapple2020, yes Paradise was Luton Airport, and it was Campari. I think it (Campari) might be one of those tastes you appreciate when you're older - it's very bitter.

The Luton Airport song, as a treat for you:

^^Oh, you didn't turn away when the sky went grey
Somehow we managed
We had to stick together (oh oh)^^

^^It's the terror of knowing what the world is about
Watching some good friends screaming
"Let me out"^^

David Bowie, under pressure

@FlouncerInDenial

I got flowers in the spring I got you to wear my ring [although not for long, it turned out!]

60s

The square brackets do not form part of the lyrics

MarthasGinYard got the title so I'll just add that it was Sonny and Cher. He was 27 when he met her and she was 16 with daddy issues, and I know everyone here will be surprised that it did not go well.
NeedToKnow101 · 19/09/2020 09:20

And Queen!

(Looking for another half point so spreadsheets aren't messed up Wink)

That's not do the huckle buck, is it needtoknow?

ThatLibraryMiss · 19/09/2020 09:32

I'll add more lines to my outstanding one, a happy bouncy song that's been used in several films and TV shows since it was a hit in '81:

On a night when bad dreams become a screamer
When they're messin' with a dreamer
I can laugh it in the face
Twist and shout my way out
And wrap yourself around me
'Cos I ain't the way you found me
And I'll never be the same, yeah yeah
Well 'cos you

FlouncerInDenial · 19/09/2020 09:33

Yes to solid
Under pressure had already been got, so no additions to the spreadsheet required.
Although library gets a point for passing on knowledge in a fun way.

Still quite a few from last night to guess, I think.

ThatLibraryMiss · 19/09/2020 09:47

Thank you, FlouncerInDenial, that's very kind of you.

I was thinking: it would be nice if, when people confirm that someone's guessed right, they add a link to the song. I can't be the only one who vanishes down a YouTube rabbit hole with some of the memories brought up by these threads.

Definitely! Who sings it though?
CoffeeBeansGalore · 19/09/2020 10:14

Don't you tell it to the breeze 'cause she will tell the birds and bees
And ev'ryone will know because you told the blabbering trees
Yes, you told them once before;
It's no secret any more.

1970s

Late at night a big old house gets lonely
I guess ev'ry form of refuge has it's price
And it breaks her heart to think her love is
Only given to a man with hands as cold as ice

I used to be a rolling stone you know
If a cause was right
I'd leave to find the answer on the road
