We're going away this weekend for a week in a sc cottage in the West Country. Am going through my packing...I can guarantee I always forget something however much I plan. So can you give me your essentials - or alternatively the things you always forget!

Oh man!! I'm packing for a week in a self catering cottage and having not really done this before (or at least not for a verrrry long time ) I hadn't thought we needed knives and teatowels.

And..my estate car is kaput so we have to fit in my husband's tiny 3 door focus. All 4 of us. And all the food for the week.

We will be like the Beverly Hillbillies at this rate.

I'm not sure it's on your essential list grenlei but I was given the biggest bouquet of flowers for my birthday so they are going with me on my knee.

Oh and a paella pan. Grin

And far too many clothes.

And board games.

Oh, and my DH insists on Gaffa tape! Hmm

Must go and squeeze in a sharp knife, bin bags and some teatowels.

Greaterthanthesumoftheparts · 18/09/2020 20:39

Tea bags and decent toilet roll.

WisestIsShe · 18/09/2020 20:41

We take a duvet cover because it doesn't matter what they say Ddog doesn't think he should sleep on the floor. That way it doesn't mess up their bedding.

We have a 'self-catering' holiday box, by the time it's packed for a holiday it contains:

kitchen roll
foil
clingfilm
sellotape or gaffer tape
can opener
plastic spatula
sharp knife
two tea-towels
large man-sized mug
pack of cards
4-way extension lead
oven gloves
spare batteries for our son's toys
various chargers
multiway adapter that has USB ports
bungy strap
bin bags
washing up liquid
1 pack of 2 washing tablets
dishwashing brush
spare teaspoons
first aid bag (tablets etc)

I'm sure I'll remember more later!

Just arrived in a holiday cottage today and I'm kicking myself for only bringing one soap when there's a shower room, a downstairs loo and I'd like some more in the kitchen! Supermarket run tomorrow. We did remember our Amazon fire stick (and remote). Also, some random spices and soy sauce. Bug spray is another must have for me.
