Dry sherry for fruit-soaking?

This weekend I’m going to bake my Christmas cakes. I always soak the fruit in sweet sherry before baking. Annoyingly I accepted a substation from Asda without checking (my fault), and the sweet sherry I ordered has been replaced by a dry one. Would this work the same or shall I try swap it? I know nothing about sherries besides that I always use sweet for this sort of thing!
