You've reminded me of something called 'Bompers' I think they were called. They made them in South Wales bakery called Jenkins Bakery. A doughnut, sliced open like a bread roll and filled with custard and the top had white icing on it. Bloody lovely.

Another thing I loved about S Wales and their fish and chip shops - Rissoles - can't buy them anywhere else. I'd have eaten more if I'd known I'd never have anymore...

I would be willing to try any sweet baked goods with clotted cream. Cream of any sort is a universal improver of sweet things (weirdly I really don't like it at all in savoury dishes).
