Selling wedding and engagement rings

So I gather that wedding and engagement rings don't sell for anywhere near what they were bought for, but does anyone have any tips? I don't have children to pass them on to, and I don't think having the diamonds reworked into new jewellery would work for me, as much as I love the rings. I just want some emotional freedom and perhaps a bit of money towards something nice for me

Gold and silver are at really high prices now, but you will probably only get what's called "scrap value", which means the value based on the weight of the metal

Do you recommend just going to a local second hand jeweler?

I'm not sure you'd get much more selling them through a second hand jeweler, unless you're buying something else from them or the engagement ring has a particular big diamond, in my experience they aren't interested in other stones.

I sold mine to a gold dealer for scrap plus extra for the stones, didn't get much but I just wanted rid so it was ok for me.
