Can I ask, what the kick up the bum you got to loose weight?

I looked at my feet today in sandals. Swollen feet and ankles. Last years loose size up trousers now digging in and restrictive. Face looks round on zoom meeting no matter the angle.
It's time to loose weight!! I just want this burst of realisation and motivation to last, as it hasn't for at least 18 months now.
What was your 'moment' that began your weight loss journey!! Please share, I'm in need of some inspirational stories

Going to the Dr for something else: she weighed me and told me I was technically obese. I had been totally in denial up to that point. Went home, both DH and I were on Atkins within a week and lost a ton of weight. Some of it has gone back on - thanks to pregnancy, two kids, 15 years, middle aged-spread, getting older and less active, but I have never gone back to the same weight as I was then.

I couldn’t bear to buy clothes in the next size up. If I was going to buy a new wardrobe then it had to be a size down. Not going to say the actual sizes before anyone asks in case anyone becomes offended.

My son keeps asking about the baby in my tummy - the only baby I have in there is a food baby... A cake, sweets, large portions of everything baby

Time to sort myself out!!

miscalculated bmi and gave myself a shock. but it has kick started me to try to lose weight/not put any more on. not losing much at present but have tipped the balance to going down not going up.

@CasuallyMasculine I've lost 3st in just over 3 months. I eat 1400 calories (occasionally under, occasionally over) over 3 meals a day and walk 20000 steps. That's it. I'm unable to exercise other than that due to a health problem currently. It does come off quicker when you have a lot to lose. Mine is slowing down now the initial big lump of it is gone, more like 2lbs a week.

@Mooey89

I started worrying about going on holiday because I was worried I would need a seatbelt extender. I told people I didn’t like rides because I worried about not fitting. It meant I couldn’t go on any rides with my son and couldn’t take him to legoland. Our furniture started creaking Blush

I had a gastric band fitted in July. My BMI was 43.5 when I started. I’ve lost 2 stone 10lb ish so far and BMI now 38.

I am seriously considering this. Did your Dr suggest it or did you have to persuade them?

@MrsRogerLima
I went privately. Cheaper than you’d think at 6k and paid in installments

I'm reading for inspiration. There's some really inspiring stories! For me, I was happy with my weight but a stone crept on last year and another during lockdown. I stopped being able to just get up off the sofa; I have to do a sort of bounce! And if I squat bum on heels I honestly worry about the pressure on my knees and I'm unable to stand back up without using my hands. Also, i've always had pretty feet. This year I have swollen ankles and pudgier feet. I know being late middle age means things are changing but I want too get back to liking my body again. I've lost 1 stone, just recently (this is the start I'd week 2!) Started in on that 2nd stone.

I like the ideas up thread odd having a deficit in calories each day and getting used to feeling a little hungry without feeling threatened by it.
