DD won’t poo

Since DD has been potty trained she with holds her poo until she literally can’t anymore. Most times I manage to get her to a toilet on time but it’s literally days of stress of her crying and trying to get her to go.
She hops around when she needs to go but she will tell us she’s doing a dance etc. It was fine during lockdown but now she’s at school she’s going through lots of knickers with skid marks (sorry!) and I’m worried about the other children thinking she’s smelly.
She has a healthy diet. The doctor gave us laxatives and told me to give them to her once a day but they took ages to work and then worked too well. She takes stool softener but that doesn’t help either. I’m so worried she will get a compacted bowel. Please help.

Get a sticker book she reads on the toilet
Almost don’t look her when she’s sat there - clean the sink or something, sing or recite the alphabet.

If she souls underwear and it’s too late - walk her to the loo, and leave her there while you fetch clean clothes - don’t speak - make it as long and as boring as possible -

She’ll soon realise a quick nip to the loo is better than all the wasted time and being ignored.

Rosielemonade did you solve this? Our 2.5year old is exactly the same and we've gone back to nappies now :( bad idea I know but she was going through countless pairs of knickers and trousers every day I just couldn't hack it anymore
..baby no2 also came along so we thought oh maybe she's just regressing because of him. Not sure if you found a solution? X

My eldest did this when he was 4 or 5, had def been clean & dry/toilet trained but regressed with a new baby into the family etc etc. Drs, laxatives, regular loo times all helped - eventually.
But my 6 yr DN has recently been in hospital with impacted bowels & along with treatments, better food choices etc she has a balloon to try & inflate while shes sitting on the loo
Could this help your little one as the blowing effort helps at the other end too. Good luck Flowers
