How often does your year 1 and 2 read to a adult in school?

Just wondering how often you could expect your child to read to a adult in year 1 and 2

I worked in both year 1 and 2 and we listened to the children reading every day. We had guided reading every morning for 15 minutes, where the children would be out in ability groups, and take turns to read a story together.

In reception and year 1 and 2 it was daily and then moved to 2-3 times a week in year 3.

I think a few in year 4 are still reading with with an adult but mainly they're free reading with a rule that if they don't know what a word or how to read it they can put their hand up for help.

Depends on their ability in our school and whether they have the chance at home.

Some are every day, some are 3 times a week, rest are when we can fit it in.

Bit tricky at the moment because our parent volunteers aren't allowed to listen to readers because of covid 19.

I would say about 2-3 times a week. They read at home 3 times a week for homework.

My youngest has just started y3, but they used to read about once a term. Very, very rarely. We read at home every day, so they were OK, but it made me worried about dc who didn't have support at home (although maybe the school prioritised those kids for reading time in school).

Daily. We're also asked to read/listen to a book daily too.

When i was a TA at primary we would try to make sure it was at least twice a week with yrs 1 and 2. Would always record it the reading record and check they were reading at home too. This was 7 years ago though.

My DD (yr 2) is at that same school and is lucky to get someone to sit with her once a week. Pre covid included. I'm not impressed. School is good apart from that one grumble.

Once a week, here. I assumed that was what all schools did. Ha, obviously not Confused

They are supposed to read 3 times a week at home but they do a reading reward scheme and because the childrens' pictures move across the reward chart the more reading they do, it is really sad to see about half the kids barely start moving across the year.
