Hi all,

I plan to move to MK from hong kong next year. Everything is new and challenge to me and i really need some advice from you if possible. May i know if Newport Pagnell is a good, safe and convenient place to live please? Originally, we targeted on Middleton, Shenley Lodge, Two Miles Ash, Loungton but finally we want our daughter studies in Ousedale when she is Yr 7 (she is Yr 5 now), therefore, we might need to go to NP instead. My friend told me that the north and south of MK are not as good as east and west and this is the reason why i am hesitating. Also, i dont have car license and want to learn driving in hong kong before coming, however, due to covid-19, all the driving exam are postponed to at least mid/end of next year (still cant book anything yet), as such, i can only learn driving in MK after moving in.

thank you for your advice in advance.

I live in Newport Pagnell and my son goes to Ousedale. Newport has a lovely community spirit and feels very safe. My son goes out and about independently with his friends (since about 12 years old) and I’ve never had any worries. We’ve also been really impressed with Ousedale, it’s a great school.
Newport is great because the countryside is on your doorstep for lovely walks but Milton Keynes itself for all the shops and restaurants is only a short drive away.
I personally think Newport Pagnell
Is a fantastic place to bring a family up in. I’m not from here originally but can’t see myself living anywhere else now.

I'm a bit out of date, but lived in MK growing up, and Newport Pagnell was fine, neither stand-out great nor stand-out bad. It has a high street (some areas of MK don't have many local shops) and plenty of parkland.

Learning to drive in MK means you will become an expert at roundabouts. Grin Public transport isn't as good as other major UK cities, but there are a decent amount of buses, you'll be fine without a car to start with. If you can cycle, there is an excellent cycle network, called the "redways", all off-road so feels much safer from cars.

Thanks for your comments, EltonJohnsSunglasses. I am glad to hear that. One more question, do you know the estates say Greenwich Gardens, Sorrell Drive etc will be noisy as it's pretty closed to M1? Also, is the flooding problem serious in Newport Pagnell ? Thanks.
