On a weekend, how many hours do you typically spend communicating with friends/family whether it be by text, phone call or in person?

This is for a typical weekend (not one where there was a major event on etc)

Hours sorting out squabbles. Elderly father much looks forward to a Sunday evening WhatsApp chat, too.

Thanks so far for the response

Family I live with or extended family?

Every other Sunday me and my friend take our sons on a day out. The other days I will text friends for a catch up, call my daughter at uni, take the fil out, see my older son. I'm quite sociable and would never go a whole weekend without seeing/communicating with people other than those i live with.

I haven't rung any of my family in ages, and haven't met up with people outside the household since before lockdown.

Some of us communicate desultorily on Facebook.

Husband speaks to his mum on the phone every other Sunday, for probably about an hour.

Almost none, maybe occasional messaging with friends. Don’t see them often as they live far away (I’d do see them, it’s for the whole weekend). I am NC with my family so don’t speak to them at all. Dh messages with friends and family (his brother) quite a bit as they’re close, but not excessively.

Probably half an hour phone call with parents and then random whatsapp / messenger chats with various individuals and groups. In person not so much at the moment, but maybe half an hour chatting with people I know who I see out and about. I am a very chatty person.

Maybe half an hour on the phone to my parents.

Including family you live with? I generally spend virtually all of my time with my immediate family (dh and 2 dc). I live a long way away from all other family. I probably spend 45 mins to an hour on the phone to my parents and dsis somewhere between every week and every 2 weeks and see them maybe 3 times a year for a few days at a time. That's about it.

As for friends, I walk the dog with my 2 most local friends a few times a week. Other friends I just keep in touch with on social media. Hardly socialise (not fussed about that tbh).

Weekends are generally just the four of us.

Spend most of my time with DH, phone my mother for half an hour on a Saturday morning. What's app chats with friends, sometimes loads sometimes none.
