Just made chicken katsu and have loads of sauce left. Wondering what to do with it? I could do more chicken tomorrow but the DC's might object!

Freeze it.

TinySongstress · 16/09/2020 17:38

I'd freeze it tbh.

PurpleDaisies · 16/09/2020 17:39

You could freeze it?

It’s nice on roasted sweet potato or cauliflower chunks, or you could basically use any mix of vegetables.

I normally make a huge batch of it and freeze portions. It does freeze particularly well.

I love tonkatsu sause and always have big bottle at home.
It goes with a lot of things, like most of fries with panko. Also mix it with ketchup to make burger sauce. Nice over hot vegs. Add it to bolognese sauce/stew etc.
Basic ingredients are ketchup/soy sauce/mirin/sugar/Worcestershire sauce,so I consider it as thicker sweeter worcestershire sause.

OP, can I please ask how you made the katsu sauce please. We always have it when out but so many recipes online.

weebarra · 16/09/2020 19:17

I used a bbc good food recipe but it came out much runnier then previously when I've used a different recipe which I will now look out!
