Hi,so I have decided to start a business,very small,very early days.Bought the website,FB page that at mo is private,lots of stock,just need to go on website.All totally off my own back,I've borrowed nothing from anyone.My family,who I'm very close to have been privacy to all this also get a sneak peek at everything I've got so far - mainly jewellery,gifts,home items etc,not one person has said well done,or oooh can I get one of those,they are all literally looking for freebies which I cannot give as I'm starting out.Am I being unreasonable in even thinking this,if this was my sister I would be all over it,ask for pics and start to tell people that hey my big sis has an online shop etc,but nothing.Its a massive deal to me and I just would like their support,ugh I feel terrible even writing this,thoughts please x

First of all, don't give anything away for free, or even at cost price. It's a business, not a collection of free gifts.

And yes, it's unreasonable of them not to tell their friends if they like the things you're selling.

I hope your business does really well.

Is this a 'stealth shop boast' ?

When i started selling my stuff online - quite a few years ago now- I advertised to everyone BUT my friends and family. I didn't want to have to rely on them to promote my business neither did I expect them to be customers, paying or otherwise.
I think maybe you should try and rethink your marketing to outside of your F&F.

It's not an MLM is it? That could be why.

Hi,no it's not MLM lol,..thanks guys,I'm not really depending on them to promote anything,it's more of a hope they are proud of me really,just a well done or go on girl go for it,it's all a bit flat and empty.No I won't post name on here at all,just wondered if I'm expecting too much of them.Im a bit of a recluse truth be told,this is just such a massive step for me and they know it,would be nice if I had a bit of support from them that's all,it's like they are thinking I'll fail before I've even started,guess just a confidence booster as a pallet arrived this morning and now it's kind of real lol,thanks for replying
