Here it is. A thread for those of us find ourselves awake for a couple of hours in the middle of the night. It might be stress, grief, illness, menopause or just the way you are.

A place to chat and get to know one another and share tips (no mention of camomile tea or hot baths though).

See you all in about 5 hours...

@Thack
Oooh, exciting, Congrats :)

Im in bed but freezing.
and hungry, iv had half a bowl of cereal all day

So hungry and cold at nearly 4am...
Fun times 😀

catfeets · 18/09/2020 03:50

@Thack I think it helps sometimes, but others it's just because im bored and eating is something to do. I eat enough crap during the day without eating it at night too!
Having said that, I've run out so need to creep downstairs to the biscuit cupboard dodging the alarm thingies as I can't be arsed to walk all the way across the house to reset it Grin. Getting past the sleeping cat will be hardest as once she's awake, she'll start banging on the doors.

Thack · 18/09/2020 04:02

@HardJustGotHarder Thank you! Why haven't you eaten? (if not rude to ask?) I find thin socks in bed help me to warm up- ankle socks are easy to kick off in the night too.

@catfeets have you made it downstairs yet? There's an active thread on biscuits here tonight - I now fancy some malted milk!

@Thack yes, I made it. I'm already half way through the pack of Maryland cookies Blush. They're so difficult to leave alone.

HardJustGotHarder · 18/09/2020 04:12

I love Maryland cookies...

We try not to have snacks in the house, cause i will eat them all :)

Havent eaten much today, for no reason really, just feeling abit off and couldnt be bothered to make anything...

Socks are a good idea.... Off to raid the clean laundry basket

yeOldeTrout · 18/09/2020 04:21

hullo. Just signing in for chronic insomniacs of the world. I may try putting a podcast on, but little DS is in here becuz big DS upset him at midnight. Hope little DS doesn't get woken by podcast...

I repeatedly (last 10 yrs or so) catch inside of my thumb nails far below the end & have them peel off, particularly bad one right now. I am googling but no condition fits the bill... except maybe fungal infection, which sounds plausible. I wish I could learn how to stop this happening.

cheeseycharlie · 18/09/2020 04:24

Room for one more?
I am having insomnia more than I used to, am peri-menopausal. But also as a teen I'd sometimes go weeks without a night's kip so also it's just how I am.
Slept well for 4 hours but woke in a tizz because I feel really eggy about my work. They spent all year congratulating us for working at home (and we really did all work our arses off, and took a pay cut which is still in place Angry). Now for no good reason I can see we are being ordered back to our central London office.
Lucky to still be in a job, I do have perspective. But the boss' u-turn has really annoyed me.plus I hate the office and am genuinely more productive at home!
Rant over.
Maybe I should hit the cookie tin also! Biscuit

Dee1975 · 18/09/2020 04:31

Morning all!
Really not sure why I’m awake. DD has just come in too and snuggled up ... and snoring away with DH ...!
Also hungry.... but will fight through until breakfast! I’m lucky I’m not working tomorrow. But have a mountain of housework I need to tackle ... 😕

Thack · 18/09/2020 04:34

This is turning into midnight snack club Grin I used to live Club buscuits. What was your fave? I'm split between mint, orange and fruit.

Ive had a glass of orange juice for a bit of sugar. I'm OK so far but I'm usually hate gaining weight so I'm trying to keep a balance during pregnancy (I'm probably still eating a little bit more)

Ladies up with menopause : what is it that disrupts your sleep? I don't know much about it, I am curious to learn (if anyone is happy to share)

HardJustGotHarder · 18/09/2020 04:53

Orange club.....

Yum !!!

HardJustGotHarder · 18/09/2020 04:55

@Thack I got socks on and am warmer...
Thank you

Cheesewine · 18/09/2020 06:18

@thack got another hour or so now we are up drinking black coffee and watching cobra Kai lol

HardJustGotHarder · 19/09/2020 00:42

The start of another long night

Kpo58 · 19/09/2020 00:52

Currently at A&E with DS (again). When we were told that there is a 5-6 hour wait, half the people there went home/to other A&Es so the queue has shortened somewhat.

Kpo58 · 19/09/2020 00:53

It's not helped that tomorrow we have lots of people viewing our house as we want to move.

Frownette · 19/09/2020 00:57

Desperately want sparkling water/carbonated drink!

Alas tap water will have to do.

Frownette · 19/09/2020 00:58

It's really not worth walking 20 minutes to local garage for a can of coke

HardJustGotHarder · 19/09/2020 01:41

@ Frownette

I would for chocolate

Thack · 19/09/2020 02:58

@Kpo58 I hope everything is OK. Hopefully it's a shorter queue for kids, I've heard of my local a&e doing that in the daytime at least.

@Cheesewine I managed a little bit of sleep from 5am ish. Alas, no coffee for me. Insomnia & work & pregnancy sucks! Do you have a favourite brew?

I've just stood outside for a few mins with the dog. The stars are beautiful tonight.

Thack · 19/09/2020 03:01

Song tonight is one by Aerosmith that I heard on the radio, I think it's called Blue, they sing about colours in the chorus. V odd having an earworm without knowing the lyrics.

littlemsattitude · 19/09/2020 03:06

Protect and survive by running has been my ear worm for a couple of days 🙄

avamiah · 19/09/2020 03:06

Hi everybody
Glad I found this post .

DeliasDinner · 19/09/2020 03:07

Evening. I'm up as DD has covid and has developed increased breathlessness. She's been waiting 2 1/2 hours for a call from a doctor. That's after waiting 2 hours for a call from a nurse. We're abroad and feel a long way from her right now. Plus it's nearly morning here.

avamiah · 19/09/2020 03:10

I’m a mum to a 10 year old girl so had to drop her to school this morning before i could call my GP , well that’s what I thought .
How wrong I was .
Continued

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 19/09/2020 03:10

I hate my bladder (the two large glasses of wine between 8-10.30 pm when I got home from work probably didn’t help).

I also hate my ‘oh, I’ll most check online’ habit (but then I wouldn’t know you guys!)).

Currently thinking about what I’m going to have for dinner (to accompany more wine).
