Would anyone kindly help me make sense of these entry requirements?

Thank you so much for taking a look! I'm looking at Bedford University and wondering why Adult Nursing/Child Nurse has an additional entry requirement for adult Access Course entries, compared to Midwifery?

Midwifery just want Access course and as long as you have the maths qnd and English units in, you're fine with just that. Nursing however want both an Access qualification AND maths, English and possibly science GCSE or functional skills.

Is this just badly written, or will the nursing courses really be harder to get into qualifications wise?

Thank you Smile

I might be wrong but I read them both as needing the same entry requirements? Both require GCSE maths/English/science or equivalent plus either A-levels, access course, DipHE or BSc. The only difference is that one gives an example of what the 'or equivalent' can be.

I may be reading it wrong but I read them as requiring the same it's just worded differently. One says maths, English and science or "equivalent qualifications" and the second one says English Language or English Lit and Maths "or equivalent". Does that not say the same thing?

If you're unsure you can always contact the admission dept and ask. They'll be able to tell you. I also read it as the same entry requirements.

To be certain, I would call them to clarify. Universities are usually very keen to help.

You will bed GCSE maths & English for midwifery & nursing ( some accept equivalencies). I read they will accept science credits in lieu of Zhcse science for both courses. If doing Access check you have enough biology credits.

*GCSE not zhcse

Thanks all, I got onto midwifery last year but didn't do the course for very sad personal life reasons.

I don't have any GCSE's. Just my Access to Health. I'm now wanting to do Nursing instead but it looks like they want GCSE or equivalents for maths and English. I thought the entry requirements made it fairly clear they're not accepting the Maths and English as part of the Access, they want it separately? Blush

Sorry, meant to say - The Nursing entry requirements seemed clear about wanting maths and English at least as a GCSE or functional skill since they go on to say after that '' Plus one of the following''

Sorry to hear that midwifery didn't work out.

Not what you want to hear, but maths is really important for nursing as you need to be able to work out drug calculations.

Gin Yes as you do for Midwifery. There's a few units on it. And I was tested with a maths test before my uni interview
